prologue: the box

jungkook sat with a box in front of him. the box was labeled "JUNGKOOK" in black marker.

it was a week after yeri's death and seulgi gave him the box while she was cleaning out Yeri's house.

he looks at it sorrowfully, hoping that there will be something to comfort him in it. 

he takes a deep breath and opens the box. what's in there surprises him.

the box contained a journal that was titled "letters". jungkook skimmed the pages of the journal and saw they were filled with different words. the only thing that the pages had in common was that they all started with the words, "dear jungkook."

tears abruptly filled his eyes and jungkook hastily wiped them away with his hand.

his hand shook as he flipped to the page marked with a red sticker. 

starting from that letter, jungkook read every letter thoroughly and carefully. when he finished it was already 1 am.

he knew he wasn't going to sleep, so he decided to reply to yeri's letters.
