"Are you okay? Todd asked the blank-faced girl. Her short brown hair wisped around the somber edges of her face like feathers. As her head turned to face him, her hands simultaneously fidgeted with the ends of her loose, wolf-printed short sleeved shirt. The belt on her waistband found its way between her fingers.

"Same as usual." she replied with a gentle sigh. One hand ventured to the bandana that hung around her neck.

"That doesn't sound good." Todd's gravelly voice whispered into her ear, urging her to speak more. Todd locked eyes with the girl, and right as she looked like she was opening her mouth to say more, she shrugged and scurried off, out of the light of the bonfire, disappearing into the flickering shadows of the trees. Todd stared after her for a few seconds and debated following after her. He decided that in order to follow her, he would also have to find her, and he also didn't know what he would say, so he decided on sitting down on a log close to the blazing flames.

He watched the party go on, all the while thinking about the shy girl, wondering why she was even at such a gathering. He glanced up to the opposite side of the fire. The crowd parted large enough for him to see a few feet behind them. A little ways behind the group sat the girl leaning against a tree with her knees hugged to her chest and her chin tilted up towards the moon.
