Josh parked the truck a few rows back from the club; it was the only spot available on a packed Saturday night. The vast parking lot was teeming with drunk partiers and girls in skimpy clothing. Lara, Todd observed would fit right in with the typical crowd. She sat diagonal to him, but had wedged herself up between him and Josh, her cleavage spilling out of her too-tight top. Chrissy on the other hand wore a modest pair of jean shorts and a flowy top.
With Lara throwing herself into Josh and Todd's conversation, it was easy for Todd to ignore Chrissy who just so happened to be the girl from the bonfire a couple of days ago. Out of the corner of his eye, Todd could see her twiddling her thumbs, head facing down towards them.
"All right girls. Ready to have some fun?" Josh shouted. Lara let out a shreak of approval. Chrissy merely looked up and our eyes met. In her eyes Todd could see fear and excitement building up.
"Let's go!" Todd bellowed before hopping out of the truck and slamming the door shut. He walked over to open Chrissy's door, but right as his fingers reached the handle, the door flew open, smacking him in the face. "Fucking God, what the hell Chris?!" Todd yelled as he staggered back. She peered around the car door with a wide, worried look painted on her face.
"I'm so sorry!" she whimpered. "I didn't see you!" She lept down off the truck and walked closer to Todd, but kept her distance at the same time. Todd shook his head to clear away the pain, but could feel a bruise forming in the middle of his forehead.
"Is this how you treat all your dates when they try to be a gentleman?" Todd added a smirk at the end of the sentene. Although his head was throbbing, he couldn't be mad at her for an accident.
"Uhm, no. I don't really go out much." She obviously didn't get that he wasn't angry any more so Todd walked over to her and took her hands in his. She kept her eyes trained on te ground.
"Look at me, Chrissy." Todd said. "It's cool. I can deal with a bump on the head." Just then, Josh amd Lara came around the other side of the truck looking flushed.
"What's going on here?" Josh teased.
"I'd ask you the same thing, Larry the Lobster." Todd jivef back. Josh had a habit of turning red whenever he was exerted.
"Nice shiner." Josh said. "You like it rough, Chris?" Todd looked over to see Chrissy's cheeks flushing with color.
"I had a battle with the car door." Todd saved Chrissy from the embarassment. "The car won." Todd placed a heavy hand on the truck.
Lara started walking, pulling Josh behind her. "Can we go now?" she called behind her impatiently. Todd wrapped an arm around Chrissy's shoulder and ushered her along towards the club.
After a minute, she spoke up. "Thanks for turning the conversation away from me." Todd looked down, not at her eyes, but at her seemingly perfect button nose with freckles sprinkled across it.
"No problem, babe. You'll repay me later." Todd replied with a wink. Chrissy blushed and looked down at her shoes as they aproached the club entrance.
*****
I know it's a short chapter especially since I haven't written in a while, but I want to save the club scene for next chapter. So how predictable was it that Chrissy was the girl from the bonfire? Hm? Well I hoped y'all liked it!
