YEARS BEFORE SUPERMAN

(ROYAL WOODS GENERAL HOSPITAL, MICHIGAN)

"AAAARRGHHH!!!!"

*A woman screams echo throughout the halls of the large hospital. By her side in the delivery room is her brunette husband holding her hand as she screams her heart out.*

"He's crowning!"

"Don't worry honey. You can do this!"

"ARRRGGGHHH!! Lynn!! I'm going to kill you for doing this to me!"

*Screamed his wife, Rita, as she continued to push out their newborn. She continued to struggle as the baby came out allowing her a moment of relief. That is until they noticed the silence in the hospital. Not a single cry could be heard.*

"Mr. and Mrs. Loud. I'm sorry."

LATER

*Later in the night, we see the couple together in their small mini-van. Silence stands between Lynn and Rita as they drive past the woods. Lynn was uncomfortable as he looked at his wife. She was downtrodden and curled up like a ball. Her eyes were puffy and red from the tears that had just fallen from her eyes. He didn't know what to do nor what to say. But he had to do something. So he says...*

"I'm sorry Rita."

*She turns her head slowly and looks at her husband's sorrow filled face. Tears fell down the sides of his face while she reached out and held his hand.*

"D-Don't be. It's neither of our faults. It's just something that happens. I guess."

*Silence once again plagued them. Lynn held his wife's hand as more tears started to stream down the sides of his face.*

"My god. What are we gonna tell the girls? Lynn Jr. was so excited when we told them. How can we look them in the eyes?"

*She began to choke up as Lynn Sr. struggled to hold onto the wheel. He gripped her hand tightly and tried to comfort her to no avail.*

"Lynn. Can you please pull over right here?"

"But honey we-"

"Please. Just. Just do it."

*He looked at his wife and nodded before pulling over to the side of the road. They both exit the van and walked out into the woods together. As they wandered deep into the woods they came across a small swing set which the couple sit down and begin to swing. Rita stares up at the stars above with her eyes somewhat dull and tired. Her husband looks down at his feet unable to fix the tension between them. He opens his mouth ready to talk only to be interrupted by a thunderous boom.*

'KRAKAKOOM!!!'
*A large streak of light streaks across the sky before crashing down deeper into the woods causing a large burst of light and smoke.*

"Holy shit!"

*Yelled Lynn as the impact shook the ground with enough force to kick him off of the swing. His wife held on as the shockwave passed them. She stared up at the fiery trail in awe before getting up and running towards it.*

"Wait. Rita? What are you doing?!"

*His voice failed to reach her in time however as she continued towards the crash site. She finally reached the crash site and found a large silver space pod in the center of the smoldering crater with a strange 'S' engraved into the metal. Lynn Sr. caught up with his wife and looked down at the spectacle before themselves.*

"Oh my god."

*Says, Rita. The pod suddenly hisses loudly and begins to open as the 'S' slides open revealing the pilot inside. An infant.*

"My god. I-It's a child."

*The infant begins to wake up and starts to cry causing Rita to draw tears and go into the crater.*

"Wait. Rita! What do you think you're doing?!"

"It's a baby Lynn! It's alone and scared! We can't just leave it behind for some wolf or bear!"

"There are no Bears in Michigan Rita!"

*He soon followed his wife down and found her cradling the crying infant and rocking him into a calmer state. The infant coos as it snuggles into Rita's arms. Lynn Sr. looks at his wife whose face was glowing with happiness and tears dripping from her chin. But jot of sorrow. But of happiness.*

"This child. Had a mother."

"Rita, how can you even tell?"

"This child. He had to have come from somewhere and if that's the case. Then he had to have a mother. I can just feel it in my heart. We can't just leave him behind alone here."

"So what? We just take an unknown child who fell from space?! That's insane even for you Rita!"

"Then what do you suggest we do then? Leave him behind for the bears?"

"For the last time, there are no Bears in Michigan!"

"WAAAAHHHH!!!"

*The infant begins to cry thus interrupting the couple's argument. The two stared down at the crying child before Rita got to work and calmed the infant down. Lynn Sr. fled the crater and soon came back with their van backing it up near the crater. Once the infant calmed down, the pod soon opened up even more revealing to Rita, a glowing blue crystal that enamored her. Her husband honked the horn of the car before going in and helping her into the car. As the two drive off into the night leaving behind the wreckage, Rita stared at the sleeping infant in her arms and smiled.*

"Lincoln."

"What's that honey?"

"Let's name him Lincoln. You know after your Grandfather. Lincoln Loud the II."

"Honey. We can't just keep a child we found in the woods. We need to call someone."

"And say what? We found a baby in a metal pod in the middle of the woods. People think our family is crazy enough, the last thing the girls need is to have their parents thrown into the looney bin. Besides. He's actually very adorable."

*She said with a smile as she rubbed her hand against Lincoln's cheek which he smiled and rubbed against. She smiled and looked at the strange crystal in her hand which showed the same 'S' symbol that was in the pod.*

"He's gonna ask questions you know? One of these days."

*Her eyes welled up with tears before looking out the window and up into the stars.*

"And when he does. We'll just have to answer them. Besides. The girls will love him. Especially Lynn."

*The man chuckled and looked at the child. A smirk appeared on his face as the baby smiles in his sleep.*

"I guess this is just another day for the Louds huh? Tragedy strikes and then you somehow find something grand in that tragedy."

*Rita smiled and looked at her husband.*

"It's the reason you married me right out of college, isn't it?"

"Ain't that the truth."

*They both held hands as they continued down the road. Meanwhile, the crystal in Rita's hands shines in the moonlight. The future seemed bright for the young boy from the stars.*
