So here is a new story for my group of followers. I have wanted to write something like this for a while and if it wasn't for a good friend of mine (you know who you are) then this wouldn't have happened :) Back to the story...
The way I see it, if you're going to live forever may as well live life to the full, right? The life of a god is not it is all cracked up to be. We are constantly looking out for the mortals on the virtual plain. Down there, there is so much destruction and death. But what makes our job bearable is the unconditional love and kindness the majority of humans can show one another.
In the my world you are given a specific "gift" which will determine your role in helping the mortals. I was born Maritae, Goddess of Water, and my role in the mortal plain was pretty much as I am described. My friend Osoreme was Goddess of Dance and together we caused all sorts of mischief and mayhem in the mortal plain. For example, ever wondered why it rained in many different directions, or picked up in strength and dropped back down again. Well that would be us using our powers, whilst I commanded the world to rain, Osoreme would dance and shifts the winds.
As we do live forever our aging process takes a lot longer than a human year. When a human has reached the age of 16, a god born in the same year would have only aged 2 years. Or if you would like this in simple maths, For every 1 god year a human ages 8 years. By the time I had reached the age of 16 many of the mortals we had watched over were dead. This then brings us to the debacle of my story. On the eve of my birthday I had come across the most beautiful man I had ever seen to walk the Earth and knew i had to be with him regardless of the rule of my world, and here in lied my problem and my sudden act of rebellion: to have even a small piece of what you human hold so dear. Love.

"Come on, Osoreme. If your dawdle you will miss him!"
As Osoreme and I ran through the palace gardens the sun was beginning to set in the mortal plain. I had been sitting on the edge of our world watching the bustling of the world below. For the humans it was a Sunday evening and were getting their last thoughts gathered for the beginning of the working week, and whilst I had been watching, I saw him again.
"Maritae, slow down! You are going to get in trouble again!" Osoreme yelled at me. But I did not care if I was to get into trouble later. All I wanted was for here to see him, just once.
"Osoreme, if you do not hurry, my running to you will have been pointless. Now make haste before he leaves."
After passing the palace walls there was only a little while to go before we reached the edge. Our palace had been placed in the most Southerly edge of the world. Behind the palace walls was were I had been practicing my power, and there I had seen him. He was perfect, and I knew I had to show Osoreme before i forgot where he was.
"Maritae, I think someone saw us. Are we nearly there?" Osoreme was more cautious than I as she was the princess. I on the other hand was just a lady of the court. My father was the brother of the king and as a result Osoreme and I had grown up together. She was more like a sister to me than a cousin. As we finally reached the edge of the world, I hesitated to look over. I took a deep breath and peered over the edge, and there he was almost in the same position talking to others of his kind.
"Osoreme." As she finally caught up to me I pointed down to the mortal plain. She followed the line of my point and looked over the edge as well. She turned and faced me and only whispered one word..."Perfect"...
