-Kenny's POV-
I stood in that courtroom in front of the judge. Ashamed of what Butters father had accused me for.
Knock, knock went the gavel on the wooden table. "Kenneth McCormick, Did you or did you not murder the victim of Leopold Stotch?" The judge echoed across the room.
"No, your honor." I said, truthfully.
"Mr. Stotch, where is your proof of this murder?"
"I do not have photo evidence, but you see my son was fully alive and healthy before he came back and moved in with my family!" Mr. Stotch belched.
"Kenneth, you can call your first witness to prove you're innocent."
"Mr. Stotch to the stand." I said, straightforwardly. Since I was still pretty poor, I had to be my own lawyer. Mr. Stotch walked over to the stand beside the judge and sat down.
"Mr. Stotch, were you there the night Butters was taken?" I asked.
"Well, no-"
"Yeah, because you moved because you couldn't be supportive of your own son's sexuality. Why do you think I murdered your son?"
"Everything was fine before you came along."
"Nothing was fine, Mr. Stotch. Your son had severe depression, and he probably would've ended up killing himself before I came back. He was my boyfriend, I took care of him more then you ever did. I was helping him past his self harm and helping him through it, not just running away like you did." I said, loudly, as tears started to flow down my face, "Not like you care anyways, you just want me arrested because I was your son's first boyfriend. I want justice just as much as you do, Mr. Stotch. Not just accusing the first person that actually tried to help him."
"Enough." Knock, Knock went the gavel again. I wiped off the tears from eyes fast, and went back to standing up straight.
"Kenneth, you say he was found in Stark's Pond without your anklet he was wearing?"
"Yes, your honor. It was never found."
"Interesting. I've seen a case like this before. Take a recess, I need to check something out." And just like that I was outside on the steps of the courthouse, crying.
"Kenny, is that you?!" I hear in my head over and over. Butters sweet voice? In trouble? He can't be dead he just can't be not my Butters. I walk back into the courthouse to get ready for the judge to just say I'm innocent so I can go grief some more.
"We have news, we did another autopsy. The body in Stark's Pond is a fake. He's still alive somewhere. Kenneth is innocent, for everyone may go home and we'll keep searching for the boy." The judge smacks the gavel two more times, knock, knock. Everything was a blur, he's still alive. Out there, alone, probably kidnapped. Who would make a fake body? Who would want everyone to think he was dead?
The next day, still no sleep. I got up and walked to Unplanned Parenthood for work again. I was running through all the records again to make sure everything was secure and correct. I noticed Bebe Stevens at the top of the list.
"November 26th, 2017. Planned Abortion." That was today, she just came in 2 weeks ago to get one before this one. Something was wrong. Who was she dating? Who keeps on getting her pregnant? It can't be the same person.
"Doc? I have a question about one of the patients."
"Yes, Kenny?"
"Okay, Bebe Stevens has been in here twice every month for the past 3 months. Something is up. Could you take some DNA from her next fetus for me? I know it's none of my business but I feel like it's someone I know. I can't directly ask her this question. I will work a week without pay, just please do this for me."
"Kenny, you can fucking have the fetus for all I care. I don't need it, just don't tell anyone about it. It'll be on the down low. And I mean I'm curious, myself."
"Thank you, so much." I said, as I went back to filling out files. About a couple hours later, Bebe walks into the office. She walks up to me smiling.
"Hi, Kenny. I was wondering if you wanted to come over tonight for dinner. It's not a date. I just want to talk, and I want us to be friends again. It's been forever." Bebe said, as she leaned over the front desk.
"Bebe, I wish I could, but I don't know about today. There's been a lot on my mind, and the whole court thing. I'm just going crazy right now." I said.
"Please? I haven't seen you in forever, since you went away. My husband, Clyde, will be home, too." Bebe said. Clyde was her husband. He was the one getting her pregnant. Geez, well one dinner probably wouldn't hurt. I mean I haven't seen Clyde since I got back.
"Okay, I guess." I said, quietly.
"Great! Also, I'm here for my check-up to get my prescribed medications." Bebe said, happily. I nodded and nodded my head to go in.
"Second door on the left, he'll be there in a couple minutes." I smiled, as I watched her walk into the doors. I guess I missed seeing her too, but I don't miss her as much as I miss Butters.
Butters. That name holds a special place inside of me. It makes me think of this bright little bouncing boy that shouldn't ever be hurt at any cost. I've been holding onto hope for too long. I need to find him, now. I'm sick of people blaming me on the disappearance of Butters. I just miss him so much, and I would die for me to at least know that he's safe someone out there.
I want to see his face, again. By that time I didn't realize I was crying until someone came up to the front desk and tapped on the glass window. I opened it, "Are you okay?" It was Wendy. I haven't seen her in a very very long time.
"Yeah, I'm fine. It looks like your appointment isn't until tomorrow." I said, sniffling, wiping off the tears from my eyes and face.
"I know, I usually wait for Bebe. Now, come here so I can hug you." She said, smiling as she leaned over the front desk, I stood up and hugged her because I knew she wouldn't have left until I did. I sat back down.
"I'm truly sorry about Butters's disappearance. I wish I could do something. I'll see you around." Wendy said, as she walked back to the waiting room and sat down. She pulled out her phone and she was immediately lost in it.
I went back to thinking about Butters. Where are you?
