Lucius walked over to see Aaqil. His eyes fluttered open, and Lucius jumped back, "Aaqil! You're still alive!" He felt joy blooming in his chest.
Aaqil winced. "Yes. The dagger didn't dig in too deep."
Cole walked over. "I can heal that." He put his hand over the wound and muttered, "Sana." The blood stopped and the wound closed.
Aaqil sat up. He looked at both Lucius and Cole. "You two are extraordinary wizards. This kingdom is indebted to you."
Lucius felt proud and Cole looked away. Aaqil addressed Cole, "You've been through a lot, too much for one your age. I would be more than happy to offer you entrance into the Society of Moonlight. What do you say?"
Cole just shrugged in response, but he did seem to be thinking about it. Aaqil got up with the help of Lucius. "We must head back outside. It's time to end the war."
Silently, they made their way out of the tower, Cole leading the way. As Lucius moved through the tower, he felt like Sephiran's death had already had an effect on it. The atmosphere did not seem so foreboding anymore.
Outside, dawn had approached as they had fought with Sephiran. It lit the scene with a beautiful light, as though signifying new beginnings. Lucius saw that the stone walkway was still laid out. The three walked across it and approached the shore. The sound of battle could still be heard, but it was not as intense as it had been before. When they saw Aaqil, Lucius, and Cole approaching, the wizards from both the Society and the Council ceased their fighting.
When they had reached the shore, Aaqil prodded Lucius. "Go on. They must hear their new king."
Lucius nodded and stepped forward. Everyone grew quiet. Facing the wizards, Lucius raised his voice. "The Dark Master Sephiran is dead! The prophecy has been fulfilled. There is no need for war anymore. Together, we have ended the darkness that had befallen on the kingdom of Laelux. Let us join together. Whether you be from the Society of Moonlight or from the Council of Midnight, you have lost family, friends, and loved ones. We have all suffered and must honor those who died for what they believed is right. Let us bring magic back into this world." Then, Lucius raised the Sword of Moonlight high above his head and it caught the light of the rising sun. "I am your king, King Lucius!"
The wizards all kneeled and bowed their heads, even those from the Council.
"Rise, my people. I serve you and together, we shall serve Laelux. For Laelux!" All the wizards erupted in celebration, though the Council was much less rowdy. Lucius felt tears of joy spring from his eyes.
Aaqil patted him on the back and Lucius turned. "You will make a mighty fine king, Lucius." Lucius smiled at the praise. Then, looking around, he asked, "Where's Cole?"
Aaqil looked around, too. "I don't know. He's gone."
Lucius felt a dark shadow mute his joy a bit. But, he was distracted when he saw Al come up to him. He slapped him heartily on the back, almost sending him tumbling forward. "I knew you had it in you, Lucius!" Then, he grabbed both him and Aaqil. "C'mon! It's time to celebrate!"
Two weeks after the battle, Lucius had been coronated as king. Cole had never been found again, but Lucius pushed that from his mind. The Council of Midnight was dispersed and the members were sworn to never use dark magic. Those who were unwilling to do so were put into dungeons, which was where Mrs. Dumitrescu went. However, Devon was hung for murdering King Wilhelm. As for the Silver Rose Orphanage, Beatrix became its owner. Lucius brought magic back to the kingdom, just like in the past. With Lucius as king, the beginning of a golden age began in the kingdom of Laelux.
