I cautiously walked into Mrs. Childs' classroom (or auditorium to be more specific) on Wednesday morning. I silently prayed that she'd either forgotten about her idea that I would be singing in front of the class or that she would have changed her mind. But I had no such luck, as soon as I tried sitting down Mrs. Childs came over. "Oh Pepper, you haven't forgotten that your little solo project that I assigned you on Monday now have you?" She asked smiling in a way that made me feel sick. "Today my nephew will be here and he will help me evaluate you and your performance so you better get your act together. This assignment is worth 100 points you in order to be able to go to your senior year you will need to have 1000 points. This project is to your advantage because you're the only one who will be doing it." She clicked her tongue turned and walked away as I cursed to myself.
I quickly contemplated on what song I would be singing and decided on Trade mistakes by none other than Panic at The Disco. What else would anyone ever expect from me? I zoned out as Mrs. Childs discussed techniques of singing and stage performance. I was totally going to blow her away and same with her nephew who would probably be just as moody as she was. I quickly wondered if her nephew had shown up yet. I quickly scanned the auditorium and in the very opposite corner from where I was sitting, I saw an unfamiliar head, well back of a head that is. When you sit in the back of the classroom forever you get to know the back of peoples heads quite well actually. I didn't get much time to look at the back of Mr. Mystery man though because I heard the worst sound in the history of mankind "Pepper, you're up" Mrs. Childs chirped. Literally. She seemed extremely overjoyed to watch me do what she assumed was fail. Oh, boy, was I going to prove her wrong.
