"Where are we going?" Lucas asked as he rubbed the spot I had grabbed on his wrist. Wimp. "We're going to find Brendon," I told him without explaining any further. Lucas looked down (he's 6 inches taller okay I can't control my height of 5'4) at me with a confused expression on his face until a shocked expression took over. "BRENDON URIE!?" He shouted, then covered his mouth quickly after "sorry" he whispered "didn't mean to be so loud." I shook my head and kept walking. We peeked into the auditorium but the only person we saw in there was Mrs. Childs pacing back and forth and saying something angrily under her breath that I couldn't understand. Lucas and I kept walking down the hallway.
"Why is Brendon Urie at our school? ... Why did Brendon Urie SING with you?... Why did Brendon-" Lucas asked 500 questions before I cut him off. "I have no idea Lucas" I replied. I sat on the floor with my back to the wall. (I always thought better in the quiet.) Shutting my eyes I mumbled to myself "Brendon... at my school.... sang with me... choir class... auditorium... Mrs. Childs... Brendon..." My eyes snapped open "I've got it!" I shouted jumping up and startling Lucas who had been at the drinking fountain. He looked at my and his eyes got big. I started talking super fast to catch up with my thoughts not noticing the look Lucas was giving me "remember how Mrs. Childs said she was bringing in her nephew who was a singer and he was going to help us sing but we never saw him but maybe it was because Brendon was-" Lucas coughed "PEPPER!" he whispered harshly and I heard chuckling behind me. I turned around to find Brendon standing behind me with his hands up "guilty as charged" he laughed "I'm actually related to that monster" he said jerking his thumb towards the auditorium. Brendon looked at both me and Lucas, who had came and stood behind me. Lucas had put his arm around my shoulder which wasn't the strangest thing. Lucas was more like my brother than my best friend. He protected me from anything that might harm me and he was always willing to bend over backwards for me. A lot of people thought Lucas and I were together but he didn't, uh, play for the same team, if you get what I'm saying. Anyways even if Lucas DID like girls I wouldn't ever consider dating him. He was generally attractive (any of the girls at school could tell you that much.) but he was seriously like a brother. He had been since day one.
Brendon put out his hand "Bredon. Brendon Urie... But you already knew that" he shook both Lucas' and mines hand. I replied "Pepper. Pepper Daniels." I would have said 'but you already knew that' except I wasn't sure if he knew who I was. "Yeah, Pepper," he said rolling my name off of his tongue like he was trying to see how it tasted. "But I already knew that." He added. I guess he did know. Seeing the confused look on my face he continued "Marjory- er I mean Mrs. Childs told me... all about you" he shook his head "that woman" he added under his breath as he clenched and unclenched his fist. "Well I just wanted to say thanks for... uh helping me out in there." I told him. Brendon blushed and rubbed the back of his head "you could have done it all yourself... I just- just heard my song and- well yeah, I couldn't help but sing along."
(Brendon's P.O.V.)
She was a lot prettier up close but from the way that boy - Lucas, as he'd introduced himself as- had his arm around her I could tell they had... something? I wasn't sure. He was sorta looking at me in a way that looked almost like... I don't know I could be wrong. "Do you think I could- uh - talk to you Spencer?" I asked. Then quickly added "um- alone" while looking at Lucas nervously. Sure he was probably 2 or 3 years younger than me but he was about an inch taller and a lot more fit. "Sure!" Spencer said as she removed Lucas' arm. He whispered something in her ear and she whispered back. Lucas nodded his head and started walking back to where I assumed the cafeteria was located. "Sorry about him" Spencer told me after Lucas was out of earshot. "I would be the same way, you know, if you were my girlfriend (I saw her blush at that part) I would be just as protective," I replied. "Thanks" she said "but he's not my boyfriend. We have been friends since forever. Our moms were best friends (I saw what looked like a pained expression come over her face but it vanished faster than it appeared) so he's just a little protective that's all... Plus he isn't really interested in, uh, well, girls" Spencer laughed nervously before putting a finger up to her lips, closeted gays? I sure knew a thing or two about that. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't quite relieved at the news that this boy wasn't a threat.
