I entered with a sigh and without a look behind, I began climbing the stairs. Chris cleared his throat and I turned around halfway and said, "What?!" He signalled me to come down. I shook my head and made a face and began climbing up again.
"I'll tell Mom that Jason had dropped by." Chris said with a smirk. I turned around quickly, "You wouldn't." I said firmly. Chris just smirked. Ross and Austin exchanged a glance. "I would if you go up to your room right now." Here's the thing, Mom is not really fond of Jason, it's all because of Chris and Ross. They have told her all kinds of stuff about him, which is completely untrue. Only because, their stupid childish threats didn't prevent me from seeing him, they ran to mommy. How mature! So, yeah, Mom doesn't like Jason and she had warned me earlier to not meet him, but you think I would listen? Well, I was grounded after that and she had told me that if I was seen with him again, then not only would she ground me, but she would also make me do Chris's chores. Can you believe that? I mean that is ultra pathetic!
"Well, then I'll tell her Joeline, that slut had spent the night in your room, last night." I said with an innocent face. "No, you wouldn't." Chris replied, his face going red. "Oh yes, I definitely would, if you don't stop threatening me." Chris looked away. "You don't understand." He said quietly, sounding frustrated. "Right." I said sarcasm dripping from my voice. "Why don't you get it Ape? Why are you so self centred? The world doesn't revolve around you and your two asshole friends. Why don't you get that? When are you going to let go of that ego of yours and act grown up? Why does it alwa-" I cut him in, "Whoa! Whoa! Those are too many questions. Can you repeat the first one again?" Ross, as if not being able to control his laughter, burst out. Chris turned around to glare at him. Austin was completely quite. He just sighed and turned around to look out of the window.
"Aprel, please come back down." He said softly. I stood still for some time and then I nodded and went downstairs. I sat down on the couch, far away from the guys. As I did that, Ross and Chris excused themselves and went into the living room. I looked back to find Austin looking at me. I quickly looked away. He got up from his seat and came and sat next to me.
"Aprel, I seriously don't think that you should throw away our relationship like this."
" I am not throwing it away Austin. I am simply asking you for an answer and when I get it, we will be back together. It's like taking a break." I said, still not looking up at him. He smoothed my hair and but a strand away from my face. "Look at me." He said and turned my face towards him.
"Ok, now just hear me out, okay?" He asked me taking my hands in his. In te blink of an eye, he was kneeling down in front of me, with my hands enclosed in his big ones and his eyes boring into me. They took my breath away. He began, "I will tell you where I had gone and why, but when the time is right. I promise that I will tell you. 'cause, I am not letting you go. I am not going to let you go so easily Aprel. What we shared was...was something else. And i don't want two years to destroy all of that." He looked so sincere when he said what he did. I was beginning to melt. "Trust me. I will tell you all of it Ape. I'll tell you everything, just please bear with me. Please. I can't lose you. I'll not be able to bear it. I know that we are going through a rough patch right now, but I am sure that we'll get over it. We always do, when we are together. Please?" I sat still and just looked at him. I smiled and hugged him saying, "Don't call Me Ape." He laughed and said hugging me tightly, "I've missed you."
When we broke apart, I looked at him smiling tears glistening in my eyes. I could put the explanation on hold instead of the relationship, right? I felt so...so complete with Austin here. But then something struck me, "What about Jason and Amy?" He sighed and looked away. "You can go back to hanging out with all of us and Ross and Jeff. I am sure that they'll forget everything and you guys can give your friendship another chance." I looked at him, incredulous. "No I can't do that" I said a little too loudly and got up. Austin shook his head. "Aprel, it's ok. I am sure, they will accept you. I'll make sure that they do." I gave him a look which asked him if he were crazy. "No, they are my best friends. I am not abandoning them." Austin looked back at me with a serious face. "No, seriously," I continued, " I am not leaving them for anything." Austin's expression told me that he had given up. "Okay then, I guess that if that's how you are going to be happy, then I'll try and be nice to them." I smiled and hugged him again.
