CHAPTER 3
"I am already dressed!" I shouted as I made my way down the bright stairs. "Val, let's get going already!"
I took a brief look at the antique clock hanging in the wall, its thin, long hands are indicating the time 4:25 according to my computations.
It's not because my intellect is beyond normal or whatsoever though, it is sadly because my vision is hazy. Err, so much for having poor eyesight and for being careless when it comes to my glasses. Unfortunately, I broke it last week.
I sighed. "I know it's still 4:25 in the afternoon and the invitation says the party will start at 8:00 and will probably end at dawn but I sure can ask for a bit of a snack from Aunt Josie, can't I?"
I held the smooth shiny grayish handrail for support as I jumped from one stair to another. I could not feel dust as I touched the handrail's smooth surface. Our cleaner, Charm, really is a hard working guy.
Anyways, Aunt Josie feeds us delicious foods every time we visit their crib since they're fond of cooking and owns a restaurant. Surely, she'll give us some snacks to eat even before the party. I'm already starving since I haven't eaten an afternoon snack.
I landed, walked towards our magnificent living room where everything glints when shined by light, and caught a movement from my brother.
The sight in front of me made me discontinue my action for a second—my brother standing in front of a large mirror in the corner, fixing his pink fitted sleeves, staring at his reflection as though he is satisfied by his god-like image.
I stopped beside him and scanned the surroundings. Voila! There it is! I found a navy blue suit hanged near the table below the stairs, just a few steps away from him. Why in the world would he be wearing a suit?
I scrutinized his form. He was trying to smoothen his already fine pink sleeves that is inserted in his pants making his legs look longer than it already is and is matched with his scaly shoes. His hair seemed to be styled on purpose with the help of FIX Clay Doh (this isn't a paid advertisement but it would be very much my pleasure to accept any payment *wink* *wink*).
I cleared my throat—fortunately, unaffected with phlegm—in order to get his attention since he's being busy fixing his attire. "Why are you in a suit and tie?" I asked in utter confusion. Is he not going to come with me to the dinner party? Is he going somewhere?
I waited for his reply yet instead of answering me, he turned his head towards where I stood, his eyebrows arched just when he scanned my attire.
How insulting his look was, he even released a sigh and gave me an eye roll.
"What are you wearing, Vi? Wear a dress or anything formal. Please do change your over-sized hoodie. The dinner will be filled with people that posses etiquette, you wouldn't want to be the talk of the night, will you?" he said in a stern voice.
What? Why in Hades' realm would my cousins, which I'm fond of, criticize me? And what was that? Possessed with etiquette? How are those b*stards full of etiquette? Possessed with demons, you mean.
"What? I thought you said it was merely a simple dinner with the cousins? Why would Diego and the others be affected of what I'll wear? I'm sure they would not mind, even our aunties and our parents." I walked closer to him while combing my hair using both hands.
"Well, I'm pretty sure they're already used to some of our not so formal outfits." I continued as a thought flashed my mind that made me flinched: my beloved cousins that are probably possessed would definitely receive a smack in the face if ever they insult my simple but comfortable outfit.
