I am a little red rose... I live in a beautiful flower field.

There are some houses nearby.

I am trapped in the shadow of the other flowers... Since I never get to experience the warm rays of light the red in my petals are fading to a brown. I am so cold. I am so hungry.

The other flowers ignore me. Always alone, always struggling for whatever droplets of sunlight I can reach... I am dying.

A slow death.

One day a young child came into the field and picked one of the most beautiful flowers in the field and left

The next day the child came back with more children, they each picked one of the most beautiful flowers they could find. One of the flowers they picked had been a flower that covered my sunlight.

Every day the children came back

Every day I felt more sunlight... but I still looked droopy and short, I always will after all the time I spent in the shadows of others...

Eventually, there were only 2 flowers left...

Me and a small yellow flower

More wilted than me, she too had been covered up by the other flowers, struggling for light, but I had never seen her until now.

We grew together, eventually becoming entwined

The children came back.

We where still wilted, as a scar from being always in the shadows.

The children didn't pick us.

They stepped on us.

Crushing the last two flowers in the field.

The end.
