There was once a desert eyed maiden
Yeah she was the talk of this 'ere town
Had many callers for her hand waitin'
But she always turn those boys downNever gave up sometimes got rough
She lost it one day havin' had enough
Took her sweet beautiful black mare
And disappeared no one knows whereShe rode by rustlin' up the golden sand
Like A tumbleweed crossin' the ol' land
Her hair danced in the whistlin' breeze
Ridin' right passed the boys with ease
No one has ever seen them since then
They did find tracks by the mountain
Though no sign of the mare or maiden
But listen you'll hear them on the wind🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼
She didn't die that hot Summer's day
No she has gone and ran so far away
Upon her journey met a blue eyed cowboy
Refused to fall for that ol' boyish charmHe never tried to seduce her like others
Let her have her freedom like the birds
She admired his ways of loving everything
Little by little the two became in syncThey traveled the vast deserted mesas
Camped out under the midnight stars
He told fables he heard as a young child
She sat there listening nothing but smilesNever thought they'd fall for one another
But they were married by the end of summer
Headed West and bought a little land
Livin' happily now the rebel and maiden~💘
