I had forgotten how huge this castle truly was.  Then again I had just spent weeks in the middle of nowhere so I suppose I had something to compare it with.  One of the lesser known professors took a stool and placed it in the middle of the teacher's platform.  She then took out a rainbow scarf.  Annabeth was freaking out next to me for no reason.  The oddly colored scarf began to sing;

You may think that your path is set

At the moment you put me on

Even though the world may it is your best bet

My colors show that you can go far, far beyond.

If you become a brave Gryffindor and still be smart

Or a shy loyal Hufflepuff and be brave at heart

You may fit in with cunning Slytherinsand be the kindest pupil

Or the smart Ravenclaw may slyly cheat a little

No matter where I put you now it doesn't really matter

How your years here play out its up to you

Not how they may perceive you

Now each of you come here so I may be wrapped around your necks

I'll put you where you think you belong with no bumps or hics

It is up to no one else to choose

You will one day figure it out.

??? POV

We clapped although we didn't know why we were clapping.  Everything we've every been told about houses had been thrown out the window.  I think half the people next to me were having an identity crisis.

Oh well, I thought, Let's do this.

"Piazza, Nicolas", the professor announced.  I felt the sweat beading down my neck.  I was petrified to say the least.  I took a shaky breath, then the next, then the next. I seemed to get better at this whole walking thing.I got up to the stool and quickly sat down.  The professor placed the scarf around my neck with a smile.  I sat and waited for the scarf to talk and heard nothing.  30 seconds.  A minute.  Nothing.  Then I heard a faint voice.

You don't wanna do follow them do you?

I  shook my head all ready knowing what he was talking about.  My whole family was in Gryffindor but I'm not like them.  Not at all.  I jumped as a heard a loud voice shout,  "Hufflepuff!"

I released the breath I hadn't realized I'd been holding.

Amanda's POV

The group of first years were sorted and put into their houses as planned.  The feast was spread out and I was amazed.  I haven't eaten a good meal in forever and this certainly covered that category.  I looked over at Annabeth over stuffing herself with Mac and Cheese  with a happy look on her face.  I looked at my own plate and started diving right in.  We were called into our dorms and we trudged out.

My first morning could have gone so much better.  I went down the wrong steps to my first class, History of Magic and was 10 minutes late.  My next class Math was a drag.  The whole timed was full of rambling which made me ticked to no end.  On my way to lunch it got 10 times worse.

I was calmly walking in when someone jumped on my back.  I screeched but someone ccovered my mouth so nobody could hear me.  They whispered in my ear.

"Shut up and get in the closet if you don't wanna get hurt," I then could tell that this voice belonged to a he.

He shoved me into the nearest janitor's closet and I got a closer look at my harasser.

I gasped and realized that is was Luke.  My eyes went wide and I started to scream.  But he put a rag in my mouth with a weird taste.

"Shhhh....  It'll alright," he said.  I tried to squirm but he held on much too tight for my liking.  The world started to become black and I made one last escape attempt.  I grabbed my wand and whispered a quick spell.

"Es pasaukšu dzirksteles!"

I blacked out.  Best. Day. Ever.
