                            ~John's (POV)~

I'm sitting across from Nicole watching her eat the stack of waffles I had made for her, she's absorbed in the task of eating them so she hasn't noticed me staring at her yet. My mind was clogged with everything that Nicole goes through, I just want to make it stop and make her feel better. The people messing with her and making her feel like shit are so not worth her time and I wish I could make her realize that. I just want to take all the pain she's gone through away, you can look in her eyes and just see all the hurt. She deserves so much better than what she thinks she does.

"Hey John." I shook my head breaking out of my headspace as Nicole got my attention.

"Yeah?" I answered stretching my arms above my head.

"I finished them." Nicole said as I looked at her plate which was basically empty. I smiled when I looked at her face, she looked proud of herself.

"Great job kid." I said as I took her plate and ate the last few bites. I looked over at Nicole who smiled at me. I stopped eating off her plate and gave her a face. "What?" I asked as she shrugged. I looked straight at her as I licked the plate clean before putting it in the sink. I turned back towards her she was laughing at me, I smiled at her. I like seeing her smile.

"Why are you like this?" Nicole asked a grin spread across her face I looked up at her my eyebrows raised.

".....Honestly I have no idea." I said chuckling as Nicole rolled her eyes. "You okay?" I asked as we settled down a little. Nicole looked at me in the eyes sighing.

"I wouldn't necessarily say that, but hopefully some day I will be." Nicole said with a grim smile. My heart broke with every word. I understand that things take time to get better but she just didn't deserve to feel this way. At all. "What about you? Are you okay?" I chuckled, Nicole tilted her head at me. I shook my head.

"Sorry Nicole. Um, it's just that people don't usually ask me that. I'm the one always asking." I explained as Nicole nodded softly.

"Well get used to it buddy, if someone is gonna care about me, might as well care for them too." Nicole said as I smiled dipping my head down looking at my hands. "You care about me right?" Nicole's question made me look up at her.

"What kind of question is that, beautiful?" I asked with a grin. Nicole wasn't smiling, she just looked at me. I sighed looking her in the eye. "Of course I do." I said, she kept staring at me. "Come on kid." I said messing up her hair, she huffed trying to straighten it out again. "You've gotta be crazy to think that I don't." I mumbled turning around and getting a glass of water.

"John?" Nicole said, I turned around to see her behind me. I looked down at her since she was shorter than me.

"That's my name." I responded getting a small smile out of Nicole. "What's up." I asked setting my water down.

"Can I have a hug?" Nicole asked sheepishly. I smiled, my heart basically melted at her question. I mean she can hug me whenever she wants. I looked at Nicole to see she was still awaiting a response.

"Always." I said making her smile wide as I embraced her. I could feel her body relax as she hugged me, you could tell that she's tired, mentally and emotionally. I would have to remind myself to hug her more. We stayed like this for a while, me leaning against the sink while I had Nicole in my arms. And I had no problem with it.

~Nikki's (POV)~

I finally leaned my head up off of John's chest. He was a really good hugger and he's also amazing to talk to, about anything and everything. I couldn't talk to Brie, cuz she's  Brie...Bryan would tell Brie, Randy....is just not even an option, I don't feel comfortable talking to mom, and JJ isn't that close to us anymore. So here I am telling a guy I met like two days ago basically all about my life. John smiled down at me. I smiled back softly, I studied his face, he had the biggest dimples ever and the way his smile seemed to reach his ears made you want to smile even more. As I kept looking in John's eyes a strange feeling came to me, I suddenly felt uncomfortable.

"Thank you." I said quietly as John nodded. "See ya!" I suddenly said breaking away from John and running down the hallway.

"Hey! Come back here!" John said coming after me. I screamed as I heard John getting closer. I opened the front door as quickly as I could and ran out into the empty street as John followed behind me. "Careful kid!" John yelled after me as I laughed.

"Come on loser keep up!" I yelled looking at John who was a few meters behind me. I heard John's deep laugh as he tried to catch up with me. I suddenly stopped as I came to a dead end. I turned around to see John stop a few feet from me.

"I've got you now kid." John huffed out to me trying to catch his breath.

"You sure about that?" I asked as I tried running past him, I almost got away before a giant hand clasped onto the shirt I was wearing.

"Gotcha." John said as he brought me into him. I laughed trying to calm down, I had no idea why I needed to get away from him before but now the empty feeling in my stomach was gone.

"Took you long enough." I huffed out as a smile spread across his face.

"You took me by surprise." John explained as I rolled my eyes as we made our way back to the house.

                            ~John's (POV)~

"So what do you wanna do today kid?" I asked as I sat down next to Nicole on the couch. We had just gotten back to the house and I was still somewhat out of breath from chasing her all the way down the street.

"I don't know." Nicole said shrugging.

"Don't you have cheerleading tryouts or something like that?" I asked as Nikki paused looking up at me then back to her phone.

"We did, but they got cancelled so now they're next week instead of this week." Nicole said as I moved from the couch and dragged Nicole up with me.

"Hey! What're you doing?" Nicole asked as I picked her up and brought her outside.

"Just follow me kid." I said sitting her down on the sidewalk.

"Why are we at the school?" Nicole asked, I looked over my shoulder at her.

"I left my car here." I explained as Nicole gave me a look.

"Why'd you bring me along then?" She asked as I smiled, slowing down so she could catch up with me.

"I was gonna go back to my place, I thought you'd like to come." I said as Nicole nodded her head.

"Sure, where do you live?" She asked while trying to braid a piece of her hair.

"I'd rather just show you." I said as Nicole become confused. "My car is over here." I said as I took my keys out and I unlocked my car. Nicole's expression stayed normal, which surprised me usually people freaked out over my car. This was a nice change.

"Let's go!" Nicole said excitedly as I smiled putting on my seatbelt and driving out of the parking lot.
