I sighed, tapping my nails on the table impatiently. My mum had already set the table, and I could see and smell the food, but we had to wait for Dad to come home. It was like some weird, family tradition that we couldn't eat unless we were all there."Mum, I'm hungry!" I whined, "Can't we just start?"
"No, Mina," My mum tutted at me, "Your Dad will be home, soon,"
I looked up when I heard the front door open, "Finally!" I groaned, picking up my chopsticks.
"Oh, you missed me that much?"
"Oh are you serious?!" I grumbled as my uncle entered the apartment and headed over to us, "Mum, I'm hungry! Let's just eat!"
"Yeah, Noona," My uncle sat down next to me at the table, serving himself a plate of food, "Jimin Hyung said he's going to be late. He said you weren't picking up your phone. Something about a new record deal for Yoongi Hyung,"
"Great!" I sighed, also serving myself a plate, "You made me wait for no reason,"
My mum looked a little sad, but sat down at the table anyway, staring at her phone with a frown, "I have a missed call," She said, "I didn't hear it ringing,"
"You should let Hyung get you a new phone," My uncle said, stuffing his face with food, "He's been offering for months,"
"I don't need one,"
"Listen to Uncle Kookie," I piped up. My mother could be so embarrasing, sometimes. Despite the fact that our family had a lot of money, she always insisted on using things until they broke, or wearing clothes until they nearly had holes in, before she let my Dad replace them.
I hated going out with them, sometimes. Not only was my mum super cheap and pretty boring, but my Dad was so besotted that they even held hands at their age.
My mum was a good cook, however, and I wolfed down my meal, before getting up from the table and heading to my bedroom, shutting the door behind me. I heard my uncle call after me about washing up, but my mum shushed him.
She never made me do any chores, which I did appreciate, but she did have weird rules; I wasn't allowed out after it was dark, which was stupid, because in the winter it got dark at around four pm. I was seventeen, and I still had a curfew!
Not that it mattered.
"Hey, Jia," I said as my friend answered her phone, "I'll be a bit late, my Dads not even home, yet,"
"Boo, whore!" My friend laughed, "That's alright, just let me know when you're ready. The doors don't open until eleven, anyway. It's only seven!"
"As soon as they go to bed, I'll leave!" We said our goodbyes and I hung up, before throwing my phone onto the bed and going to my wardrobe to get ready.
When my Dad worked late, my parents went to bed when he got home, after he ate, so him working late was actually a good thing. This wasn't the first time I'd snuck out. I'd snuck out twice before, and almost got caught both times. I just had to make sure I was back before my parents were up; luckily, it was friday, and they always slept in on saturdays.
I heard my Dad come home finally, and my uncle left not long after. At ten, I climbed into my bed and pulled my covers up to my neck, so when my parents knocked to say goodnight, they wouldn't know I was dressed.
"Hey, how's my favourite girl?" My dad smiled as he popped his head in after knocking, "Tired already?"
"I'm not your favourite girl," I pouted, "Mum is,"
My Dad grinned, "No, she's my favourite woman. You're my favourite girl. There's a difference. How was school?"
"Fine, I guess," I replied, "Hey, Dad, can I have some money? Me and Jia and some of the girls are going for lunch tomorrow,"
"Sure, baby girl, how much do you need?" My Dad immediately reached for his wallet and opened it.
"However much, I don't know,"
He took a wad of bills from his wallet and put it on the dresser by my door, "If you need more, let me know,"
"Thanks, Dad,"
He smiled, "Goodnight, Mina,"
"Night, Dad,"
I waited in my bed until I heard their bedroom door close. After waiting for another ten minutes, I grabbed my bag and shoes and crept out of the apartment. Once I was out, I shoved my feet into my stilettos, and hurried outside, putting my phone to my ear to ring Jia.
"Hey girl!" Jia was waiting for me in the queue outside her favourite club, "Tonights gunna be so fun!"
"Can't wait!" I grinned as she slung an arm around me. I already knew I was getting lots of looks from the guys around me, and it did make me feel good about myself. I had to admit, I did look a lot like my mother, which was the only good thing I inherited from her; my hair wasn't quite blonde, it was more like a very light brown, and I had large, silver eyes, just like her. I also had quite a large chest, and rounded hips just like my mother, which always had the guys staring at me when I wore form fitting clothes.
"They always look at you," Jia pouted, "Why don't you just get a boyfriend already?"
I laughed, "I don't know. I've not liked anyone before,"
That, and my uncles would probably kill them. My uncle Jungkook was very protective, but my uncles Yoongi and Hoseok turned downright terrifying if I even mentioned boys.
"One day, you'll fall in love," She promised, and I laughed, hooking my arm through hers.
"Look, they opened the doors!"
