A Million Little Pieces

Each step, each decision, harder than the last
A hellish place inside
Falling further and further from reality
Until redemption appeared
Forcefully, or willingly it appeared
With success to found, or lost
An addict, an unlikely friend
One in the same, yet completely diverse
A great gift, one that many may lose
A tear falling down
A hug shared
A success story made
But a single phone call can destroy all
Jealousy pours out
Failure on the horizon
Teetering on the edge of a cliff
A son, a daughter, a wife, a husband
All suffering
A million little pieces piling together
working together to reunite and become a whole
Shattering into into a million pieces does not exempt
A judge, a mobster, a farmer, a steel mill worker
All one in the same
all fighting an uphill battle
That one can only hope of summiting
A mountain of pain, hope, and struggle
a self discovery journey
A man saying to another, hold on my friend pain ends
