The beeping woke her. Phoebe rolled over to turn it off.
"Whoa, you might not want to move so much." the voice came from across the room. The voice was so families to Phoebe, but she just couldn't figure out who it was.
She heard the speaker walk towards her, and sit in the chair next to her bed. Phoebe looked up to see her mother, tears streaming down her face.
"Oh, Phoebe, how did this happen to you?" She whispered, holding Phoebes hand in hers.
Phoebe was confused. What had happened? she tried I speak, but it hurt to much to try. Instead, she squeezed her mothers hand tighter.
"She seems to be in excellent condition, considering why happened." She heard. It was muffled, but she could hear more voiced in the background.
"How long do you think her recovery will be?" Her mother asked.
"Hard to say, but several months for sure. It all depends on her, really," the doctor replied.
Could it really be true? this would mean she would miss college, and struggle to be where she had once been.
The doctor turned to Phoebe.
"How do you feel?" he asked.
"Alright, I guess. What happened?" she asked. It was hard to get what little she said out.
"You were in a car accident. You drove off a road and hit a tree." the doctor replied. "You've got three broken ribs, and a concussion, some internal bleeding, and a broken finger, and two broken toes."
Phoebe was shocked. She didn't remember that. She couldn't speak.
It was much longer than several months. Phoebe was in the hospital for almost a year. She missed college, and so many opportunity's. But at this point, it didn't even matter anymore.
