I was aware of the nothingness as if the room had been full. It surrounded me and engulfed me and make me feel minuscule. The whiteness inside my head scared me but as much as I tried I couldn't find my way out. I searched in futile attempts but never succeeded but to get my self more helplessly lost inside my own head.

The feeling of hands on the bare skin of my arm was the first sense I had felt in what felt like months. I was aware of the presence of someone beside me.

Their soft whispering became apparent next. Quiet grumbles and silent hope leaked out of the individual who's voice I heard.

The feeling of the runes was next. The dull burning pain was welcomed and comforting as my mind came out of the whiteness. And as my silver eyes opened to intake my surroundings, the first thing I saw was Jace.

His golden eyes widened in excitement as he stared into my eyes. He bolted straight up out of the chair running to the door, screaming.

"She's awake! She's awake. Magnus come she's awake." He called down the hall.

My eyes rotated searching at the door for the appearance of more familiar faces.

The next eyes my eyes connected to were the cat like yellow ones that belonged to Magnus Bane the warlock. He had been a friend for a while and never failed to be guilted in to helping one of the fallen members of the institute. He had a soft spot for us because of his feelings forAlec. His smile was genuine as if he was glad to see my eyes open again.

"Kaison, Kaison, Kaison." He shook his head as he knelt next to the bed "How nice it is to see you awake again. I was beginning to get quite worried about you my dear" he chuckled and squeezed my hand.

I opened my mouth tentatively afraid of what my voice would sound like.

"It's good to see your face too Magnus" I manage to croak out in a raspy tone.

Magnus gave me a soft smile and a firm pat on the shoulder "So how are you feeling?" He questioned. His cat eyes searching my body for any signs of more trauma.

"To be honest I feel like shit" I sighed my voice came out clearer this time " My back feels like its on fire" my features scrunched in a pained expression as a wave of pain washed over my back.

"The poison in the demons spike was very potent and it's gonna take some time before it all washes out of your system" he said reluctantly "I would love to tell you the rest will be better but it's just gonna get worse" he frowned genuinely looking like he cared about how I felt.

"Is there anything you can do?" Jace chimed in quickly with quite the severity.

"I can give her a potion that will ease the pain for a little bit but that's only a temporary fix. She's just going to have to let the poison drain from her system." He said to Jace in a calm tone. No one wanted an angry Jace on their hands.

I placed my hand on Jace's leg "Don't worry, I'll be alright" I forced the best smile I could and looked up into his golden eyes noting the disparity and lack of sleep. "Jace, go take a nap. You look like death" I said patting his leg "I'm gonna be okay." I said quietly.

Jace nodded slowly and kissed my forehead like I was a little child and walked out of the room towards his.

"Will I be okay?" I asked Magnus as soon as heard Jace's door close.

"It will take some time but I'm almost positive you will be alright." He said with a small flicker of a smile.

I clenched my muscles as another wave of the pain washed over my back and stomach. I let out a small yelp of pain. I went to pull my right leg in but was stopped quickly by the lack of movement in that extremity. A fresh wave of panic washed over me.

"Why can't I move my leg" I asked the panic edging my voice as I began to try to sit up to see my leg.

"Woah there Kai. Calm down. You broke your knee when you fell. And here if you'd like to sit up let me help you. I don't want you to rip open the gash in your back." He said calmly grabbing my arm to slightly restrain me from doing something stupid.

I nodded slightly and let Magnus gently sit me up in a sitting position. I winced as the strength it took for me to hold myself up was almost too much to bear.

"Careful there." He cautioned as he slid a hand under my shoulders to support me.

I looked down at my leg which had been carefully wrapped and cast while I had been unconscious. I frowned as I slumped slightly.

"I'm useless now. I can't even sit up on my own. I can't help them fight." I leaned all my weight on to Magnus's supporting arm.

"Hey there it will be okay. You should be up and hobbling around in no time. And with some runes you'll be back to your normal self faster than you can imagine." He patted my shoulder comfortingly and gave me a warm smile.

I noted the wheel chair in the corner of the infirmary room. "May I use that?" I motioned to the chair with my head and looked expectantly back at Magnus.

"I suppose it could do you some good to get some fresh air" he agreed reluctantly. The expression he wore showed that he knew I was going to do what I wanted regardless of what he said.
