Chapter 5

"I thought you'd say that" I laughed weakly and straightened up.

Magnus swung my legs over the side of the bed carefully and brought the wheel chair to the side of the bed. He lifted under my arms and pulled me up.

"Ahhhhh!" I screamed out in pain. The pain seared along my back. I felt like my skin was ripping apart.

"Shhhh. You're alright. Look your in the chair. Take a deep breath" Magnus said soothingly as he slid a syringe from the bed side table. "You're going to feel a slight pinch but then it will be better" he said as he stuck the needle into my back.

I winced but then a sense of relief flooded through my veins. An audible sigh escaped my pale lips.

"Is that better?" He asked as he pushed my chair forward towards the door.

"Much. Thanks Magnus. It means a lot" I said as I craned my neck to look back at him.

His cat like eyes smiled down at me "You've ways been one of my favorite shadow-brats" he chuckled and patted my shoulder.

He wheeled me through the halls of the institute commenting on things I had missed. Apparently I missed another raid. This one was more successful then the last. He rolled my chair past my bedroom.

"Hey. Can you stop in my room real quick?" I asked.

"Sure. Do you need something?" Magnus questioned as he maneuvered me carefully into my room.

"I wanted to grab my Steele. It's not on me and it wasn't in the room so I figured Jace must have put it here. I feel lost without it" I confessed as my eyes scanned my room.

My eyes fell on the dark metallic cylinder sitting on my pillow. A smile spread across my lips. Magnus reached up and grabbed my Steele.

"What is your guys attachment to these things?" Magnus questioned as he put it in my hand.

"It becomes a part of you. It protects you and shields you and heals you. It's your number one weapon and you develop a connection with yours. Like using someone else's feels weird. The weight is off and it just doesn't feel right" I explained while turning my Steele around and around in my hand.

Magnus chuckled. He wheeled me out of the room and back down the hallway.

"Where are we going?" I asked looking back at Magnus.

"You have one more cleansing you have to go through and then we can administer all the runes. Brother Zachariah is coming to perform the cleansing and apply your runes" he said quietly as we neared the infirmary.

"Zachariah? Is he the one who seems different? Like somehow human?" I asked nervous to undergo another cleansing with a silent brother. They were scary.

"Yes he is. He seems to like you considerably. He personally requested to come do your last cleansing" he shrugged and pulled my chair up to the bed.

"Maybe he will make it less painful " I said wishfully.

Magnus wrapped an arm under mine and lifted me up a and out of the chair. I winced but the pain was far more manageable now than it had been before. I shifted in bed and propped up my bad knee before sighing.

"Feeling a lot better I assume" he chuckled and say in the chair next to the bed.

A raspy knock fell on the door. The dark black head of Alex poked in next.

"Hey Kaison. How are you feeling?" He asked with a half smile on his pale face.

"Better now that your magical boyfriend have me drugs" I laughed and smiled at Alec.

Alec chuckled and looked to Magnus. Magnus smiled and motioned for him to come sit with him. Alex's eyes fell reluctantly on me.

"Oh go kiss him already Alec. You know that why you came down here" I smirked and laughed.

Alec's face lit up bright red the blush flooding his cheeks.

"I just... I mean... I" he stammered.

"Don't be ashamed. Go kiss him. Hurry up unless you want the silent brother to catch you" I laughed and motioned toward Magnus.

Alec smiled finally and tentatively walked towards Magnus.

"Come here Al" Magnus whispered and pulled him in for a big hug and kiss.

"Awh so sweet young love. Well not so young love" I corrected.

A bell rang loudly though the institute.

"I guess Brother Zachariah is here" Magnus sAid releasing Alec. "Alright Kai. Last time. You can do it" he encouraged as the knock reached the door.

Oh no! It's brother Zachariah!! Please like this story and continue to read it. I think I wanna work Jem and Tessa in here somewhere I'm just not sure where yet.
