The Darkone Inn,
Jeruvael,
Illearia.Teph now stood in front of the door to his room. For the second time that day, he knocked.
"Asaph? That better be Asaph and not room service." Came the quick, husky reply.
"It's Asaph."
" Good. Enter."
Teph entered into a medium sized room. It had a small window with two medium sized beds facing it. The room had poor lighting and Teph could not tell if that was to his advantage, or simply a bad thing.
" Hello Asaph, I'm Xena."
The young man who Teph assumed to be two or three years older than him, extended his hand for a handshake, Teph took the outstretched hand.
Xena was almost six feet tall, with curly, black hair, perpy honey coloured eyes and olive skin.
"Good to meet you Xena."
Xena sat down on one of the beds.
" So are you from Illearia, Asaph?"
Teph thought about it briefly, then decided not to lie about that.
"Yes I am."
" No wonder your skin is paler than mine." Xena mused, then added.
"I'm from Arivya.""Really. I've been there, it's a very nice place."
Teph smiled, his mother was from Arivya; hence her olive skin. He sat on the other bed.
"That it is. Unfortunately it doesn't have much job prospects apart from farming. So most of our youths have to travel to neighbouring countries to try and find work. Illearia as you must know, is the most influential country in the entire Eastern Continent, so how could I refuse when she called?" Xena gave a lopsided grin.
"So you work at the pub?"
" I'm one of the bartenders."
"That sounds interesting."
"Interesting?"
"All those drunk people telling you their entire life story."
"I actually only started work today."
" Oh well, consider it a forewarning my friend. When a man is intoxicated, he tends to give away his secrets."
"Good thing I don't drink then." Teph thought to himself.
