It's been 88 days since Colby said he would become one of us. We haven't spoken about it since, except the random questions he likes to ask about vampirism.
I'm sitting, alone in my apartment wondering about the next steps to take.
A bat suddenly flies in through my open window. It morphs back into its vampire form.
"I'm here to invite you to a meeting on behalf of the Council regarding your imprint." He says.
"Alright....wait how'd you know?" I Asked.
"I personally didn't, Thorne however does and needs to evaluate your plan and steps before you tell the human or make them one of us." He said.
"But why?" I Asked.
"It's under section 38 via vampire laws to discuss your imprint and your steps towards the imprint." He said.
"Thorne is like the king of vampires?" I Asked.
"We do not use that term but he is the oldest vampire to ever exist at this moment in time." He answered. "You seem young and confused, please do your research before attending, tomorrow at midnight" He continues.
He morphs into a bat and flies back out my window.
I hate morphing, even though not all of us morph into just bats, me being one but I hate it. Clinging onto my human past is not a good look for me, especially if I'm going to meet the oldest vampire ever???
A scroll appears on my bedside table in a poof of smoke. I jolt back off my bed. "Well that's pretty awesome" I spoke out loud.
I sit back into my bed and grab the scroll.
It reads: 'meeting tomorrow midnight at h ad Council regarding your imprint.'
Must be real if they sent a scroll? I leave my apartment and make my way to Dereks house, Derek is that assholes step father. The asshole that turned me. Even though Derek is a cool dude he will help me with this.
I catch the 99 bus which drops off at the woods in front of Dereks house.
I begin to walk into the woods, passing the areas I camped during the first week I was born as a vampire. I feel rage building inside me, I use my speed run powers and speed towards Dereks home. I suddenly stop, almost falling as I stopped and walked slowly up the porch steps. Derek suddenly appeared at the door, he opened it. "I could sense you were nearby newbie."
I rolled my eyes, "Can I talk to you?" I said.
I handed him the scroll the messenger had left me, he reads it.
"YOU IMPRINTED?!" He shouted.
Suddenly, 3 other family members sped to the porch. "She imprinted?!" Said Derkes wife, Anna, shocked. "You're still a newborn!"
"Was I not supposed to imprint?" I Asked.
"Yes but not for many years yet! The earliest we know of is 120 years." He said.
"122 honey" responded Anna.
"Is this bad?" I fretted.
He looked up at me, very concerned then at Anna.
"It could be, come inside so we can talk." He said.
I nervously walked into Dereks house. I saw the stairs which I was thrown down by his stepson, then bitten until almost the point of death. I cringed and felt anger as I walked past.
Derek looked over at the stairs too. He knew how I was feeling seeing them so he nudged me into the sitting room. "Through here" He said hurrying into the sitting room.
I sat down on the sofa, Derek looked at Anna and pointed to the books on the shelf. Anna nodded and grabbed 3 books and handed them to me. "You expect me to read these before midnight?!" I Asked.
Derek and Anna looked at each other confused.
"No, watch" said Derek. Derek picked took one of the books from me and speed read through the book in 3 seconds. "There" He said.
"Wow Can I do that?" I Asked.
"We all can, try it" he suggested.
I hold the book, I open the cover and suddenly speed read through the book, still taking in every word. It was a book about imprinting involving humans. "That was cool" I said.
Anna and Derek smiled at each other.
"But I don't get it? You already told me about imprinting, you know, when it happened and you didn't mention age so I didn't think much of it." I said.
"Imprinting can happen during anytime of a vampires life but never ever in newborn age which is the first 100 years after their vampire birth. And in your case, you're only 51." He explained.
"I still don't understand..." I said.
Derek grabs the middle book from my lap and places it in my hands and looks at Anna.
I speed read this book too. It's about fake imprinting, the power that asshole who killed my human life.
"I know most of this, you already explained before. I don't get what your point is?" I said.
"The only vampires that have been known to do this have been the fake imprinters." He explained.
"So what are you saying?! You think I'm faking it onto him?" I said shocked.
"Well because of how my son turned you, he was trying to make you like him, trying to force you to have his powers too. It can work if done right..." he said.
"Woah I'm not faking I SWEAR" I shouted, standing up off the sofa, knocking the books onto the floor from my lap.
He hands me the 3rd book from the floor. I speed read this final book. This explains how a vampire with fake imprinting powers are able to create other vampires just like them, almost exactly like them. They end up with the same powers and ultimately, evil.
I drop the book. I look up at Derek, scared out of my mind, not knowing if mine and Colbys imprint was real or fake, how would I know?
"WAIT! He's said...my imprint said he's not in pain, I was in terrible pain with your son and the book says it too!" I shouted.
"Sometimes the fake love can me impressioned so strong that they wouldn't mention the pain because the lust is so powerful" he said.
I sit back down with my head in my hands.
"What do I do?! I feel that I'm not faking this, it's a real imprint!" I said.
"You will have to prove that to Thorne..." said Anna.
