"Stay here," Celeste closed the door to her bathroom and went to her grandmother on the other."Don't tell me you've been out adventuring at this time of the night Celeste?"
"No grams. I was too deep into sleep to hear you call." Celeste lied through her teeth. Why was she lying? She has never done this before and she didn't like the feeling it left in her stomach.
"Are you okay my dear?" Madeleine questioned in a concerned voice. "You look a little pale. Do you want some warm milk?"
"I'm fine Grandma," Celeste chuckled. "Come, let's get you back to bed."
Taking her hand into hers, Celeste carried her grandmother back to bed and assured her for one last time that she was okay.
She sighed a breath of relief when she saw her grandmother's eyes drifting and whispered a goodnight, quietly closing the door behind her.
That was close.....
She didn't want anyone to know about what happened in the forest a few moments ago. Especially her grandmother. She didn't know if she could trust the boy she had helped. He could've done something bad for all she knew which caused the woman to be hurting him.
Celeste made her way back to her room hoping to get some sleep before the sun rises.
"Are you sure you're okay?" A voice said and Celeste looked to see the boy gazing out the window into the night.
Was he still hurt? Didn't seem that way since he looked more relaxed than before.
"Yes, I'm fine. Are you?"
Silence drifted across the room. Celeste could feel the tiredness taking over her body and she fought the urge to go and lie down. However, she stood there admiring the boy's frame that was well built. He stood with broad shoulders that filled his clothing with blond hair ruffled due to harsh movements back in the forest. He was a God. Celeste was sure about that.
"Thank you," The boy broke the silence turning to look at the girl who rescued him from his torture. "For saving me."
Celeste gave a tired smile. "No problem."
"Why didn't you run away?" The boy asked in a soft voice. What did he mean? Wasn't that lady hurting him?
"You needed help." Celeste thought as the most sensible thing to say.
The room became quiet again and this time, Celeste took it as her cue to get to bed. It has been a long night after all and she didn't want grams to scold her for not getting enough rest. Plus, she was starting to feel the exhaustion of her subconsciousness slowly sink in.
Celeste handed the boy a blanket and a pillow from her bed. "You can sleep on the couch over there."
The boy took it and reluctantly walk over to the black couch that sat in the corner of the room, his face immediately scrunching up at the size of it. Uncomfortable was what he will be feeling for the next two hours. It was a good thing he wasn't planning on staying the whole night. Therefore, he had a little time to spare until he decides to return to his universe. Still, he frowned and crawled unto the tiny furniture resting his head on the handle.
"Goodnight," Celeste turned the night lamp off and pulled the sheets up to her chin wondering if she had done the right thing in saving the boy's life. Well she couldn't let him die so of course she had done the right thing. Still, there was this weird feeling set in the back of her mind that something big was about to happen. Something that included her in it. Pushing these thoughts away, Celeste closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.
