The scene played over and over in Celeste's mind and she couldn't fathom the thought of who this strange boy is and how he knew her name without her telling him. He wasn't normal, that was one thing she was sure about. His eyes changing, the weird feeling when their hands touch, her getting nervous when he was around, the witch chasing him. It all adds up and it seems it has some sort of connection to the weird glowing-hair woman.
Pacing back and forth on the carpet at her bed foot, Celeste placed a hand to her forehead to calm her ticking nerves.
She couldn't get this morning's events out of her head. She waited for school to finish to hurry and come home in case the strange boy would be here. However, it was over an hour since she return and there was no sign of him. She knew she shouldn't have left him with the woman. He probably was hurt as she was speaking now.
Sighing, Celeste decided to find something to ease her running thoughts and so she sat at the little desk in the corner of her room to do her homework assignment. The questions stared back at her but her brain was blank as ever. All that had happened between yesterday and today was clouding up too much of Celeste's thoughts for her to think. She was craving for her curiosity to be fed. Sighing again, she stood from the small desk scraping the chair against the wooden floor. She turned ready to head for the door and gasp when the strange boy appeared in front of her eyes.
She placed a hand to her chest. "You have to stop doing that."
The boy chuckled in response. He then smiled at the beauty in front of his eyes. To him, Celeste was the prettiest girl he had ever met. Long flowing brown hair, bright hazel eyes to compliment her round face. Small round lips. In his eyes, she was perfect. Nothing more, nothing less. He shook his head as Celeste snapped a finger in front of his face realizing he was daydreaming. Before he could ask her to repeat, she threw the question he was dreading to hear at him.
"How did you know my name?"
Silence.
"Answer me, how did you know my name without me telling you?"
Silence.
Celeste stood staring at the boy who was racking her brain with curiosity ever since she met him in the forest. She wanted to know everything about him for some strange reasons. She herself couldn't understand it but she was going to find out, one way or the other.
The boy lowered his gaze to the ground, contemplating whether he should tell Celeste or not. He didn't want to put her in danger but if she doesn't know, her life may be put at risk. Deciding on the latter, he held her hand and dragged her to the bed near the window to sit.
"Promise me, you won't have a bad reaction to anything I am about to say?"
Celeste shook her head in response and watch as he sucked in a breath before he began.
"My name is Narelle. I'm the son of the Moon Goddess. My duty is to keep the universe balance as it is. My mother handed down the duty to me and for years I have been keeping the world on its scale. Everything existed equally - sky and earth. Moon and sun. Night and day. Nothing was out of place. That is, until I met Syrah. The sorceress of the underground world. She wants to use me to get the spirit world unbalanced for her personal reasons. I obviously rejected her offer since I knew it would be something evil and that's why she's after me. If she gets her hands on the wrong set of powers, the world will become a dangerous place. And that's where all chaos will happened. Everything will be flipped and confusion will be the only thing present."
Celeste was speechless after hearing these words even though a ton of questions were encircling her brain. Taking a short breath, she replied after a few moments.
