(Note: yes I know they look very different but they both are 14)
It's been awhile since that day... That day when Kamina died... the day he left... it was still playing out in everyone's head...
Simon had been laying in his bed not moving, not eating, not even sleeping. Because everytime he closed his eyes he saw Kamina dying or the scream he uttered as he was impaled.
'It's all my fault... it's my my fault...' He thought to himself
"Simon..." he heard someone whisper
And Simon looked and his eyes widened as he saw who it was.
"Bro...?" He asked
Meanwhile....
Yoko had been helping everyone she could, it was more to keep her mind busy, she'd helped cook, hunt, repair and working on her gun by cleaning it and making ammunition. She also made sure she ate and slept. But she hadn't seen or talked to Simon. She couldn't...
"Miss Yoko? I know you don't like me that well... and I'm sorry for that, and I don't know what has happened but I think Simon might feel better if he had someone with him..." Nia said as
She had joined them after Simon saved her, but that was the last thing he did. And she was the Spiral King's daughter. And their plan to eliminate the Spiral King was still ago. Yoko just gave the girl a shocked but stern her eyes narrowed at how bright and bubbly she was.
"Thanks kid." Yoko said simply and walked off heading for the kitchen and made some food as she was taking her advice
'Damn you Kamina... I'm falling for him now...' she thought as she focused on the food
After making something to eat she started to walk towards his room. And stopped just outside his door...
Meanwhile...
"Bro... it's all my fault... I should be dead..." Simon said
"No... you did exactly as we planned... sure I died but that doesn't matter, what matters is you are alive, I always wanted you to be the leader... you got that spark that I just don't have..." Kamina said smiling
"B-but... w-what about Yoko?" Simon asked
"It was the heat of the moment.... I knew you saw... but that's it, just take care of her, and lead Team Gurren... and I left something for Yoko... see ya little bro..." he smiled and disappeared
"Kamina!" He said and scrambled out of the bed but that's when the door opened
It was Yoko.
"H-hey... you okay?" She asked concerned
"Huh? Yeah, I... think so... sorry... just, not used to losing people." Simon said
She set the food down and sat on his bed. "It's alright I can understand... but shutting yourself in isn't the right thing... so, I'll be here if you need me." Yoko said smiling a little
He smiled too a little. "Thanks..." and got up on his bed and hugged her
She was taken aback but carefully hugged them back. She felt a few tears. Her heart hurt like hell. She didn't know what to feel.
"Yoko... I know you feel torn... but, I'm here, I won't leave... what that means for us, I really don't know... but I want to find out, together." Simon said carefully as he looked into her eyes
She couldn't hold back the tears as she planted her lips on his. And Simon did inturn. She knew how old she was and she could guess his age. But how they both appeared none of that mattered. And she held him close. Boots was under the bed and came out slowly pulling something with him, Kamina's cape folded and cleaned and repaired. Simon smiled and picked it up.
"Good boy Boota." He said and offered it to her "I want you to have it." He smiled a little more
Yoko was in tears again as she smiled back and nodded. "Okay..." she whispered and pulled the red cape on with The Team Gurren logo on the back, and she got out her pistol and offered it to him in turn "I know you have your drill, but a little backup never hurts..." she added
He accepted. It was heavy in his hands but it was something he'd learn to use. And he set it aside for now. And at that they both laid down holding onto each other. Boota laying with them. Now they both knew what they wanted and they were both together now, now Kamina could rest In peace.
"I'm in love with you Simon, and I hope you keep that promise..." Yoko whispered
"I will keep this promise, and I love you too Yoko..." he breathed and at that they were asleep
Everyone came by and smiled, Kittan was pissed but his sisters yanked him away. The newly named Team Dai-Gurren was ready, and they had a new leader, Simon the Digger...
