Wednesday
Nagisa's POV
'I'm so excited!' I thought to myself whilst putting my pencil case in my bag. Today, after school, I was going to meet up with Isogai at the arcade. We had already made arrangements last Wednesday, so my mum already knew. It was quite hard convincing her that Kayano shouldn't come...
Last Wednesday
"Um, Mum?" I asked hesitantly, repeatedly wondering if this was a good idea. 'Yes', I thought, finally deciding on my choice, 'I'm going to do this, you never know until you try, right? I've already called out to her, so she'll get suspicious if I saw something like: "it doesn't matter" or "I've forgotten what I was gonna say". So... Here goes...'
"Yes, Nagisa?" She answered while washing the dishes.
"Can I go meet with Isogai after school, next Wednesday?"
"Nagisa," she sighed, "We've talked about this, you shouldn't hang out with poor people like him." She said the word 'poor' with so much disgust, it sent a shiver down my spine.
Not wanting to get into another argument, I said the first excuse that came to mind, even though it made me feel horrible afterwards.
"He's the only one, I promise!" I forced out. 'That's it' I thought, 'I've said it, if Isogai ever found out about this, he'd probably hate me.'
"He helps out when me and Kayano have... disagreements." I finished, that was partly true, he helps me stick up for myself, and, when things get particularly bad, he lends me a shoulder to cry on.
"I guess even the bestest of couples have their disagreements. Fine, you may go." She said, I mentally sighed in relief.
"But," Ah, there it was, the catch, "Kayano is coming, too."
'No!' I mentally shouted, 'this is meant to be something where I can actually be myself. Free from my restraints!'
My mind was going a mile a minute, a second, even. I had to think of an excuse. Something. Anything! 'That's it!'
"But Mum, um, she can't come." I saw her face turn to rage, I quickly explained so she would calm down, "You see, Isogai is helping me plan a date with Kayano, so, although I hate to lie to her, I'm going to tell her I'm going to the arcade. Can you tell her that, too?" I made up on the spot.
Her face turned from pure rage to very happy.
"Really?" She asked, "What a nice surprise. I'll allow it this time. Now, go and do the laundry."
"Yes, I will. Thank you so much, Mum!"
Now
I zipped my bag closed and said goodbye to Kayano and my friends. But, Kayano ignored me, unhappy that she couldn't come.
'I'm so excited!' I thought whilst I walked, with a small spring in my step, to where I was meant to meet with Isogai.
