You are a resident of the village of Carvahall. You spend your time in the spine hunting animals for food or selling them for money. You think you have it easy until the Empire comes and burns the village to the ground! Many villagerś die, are enslaved by the empire or escape and join the Varden. Years pass and then the village is rebuilt and you are eager to return, but then the only human rider and defeater of Glabitrox, and former resident of the village Eragon Shadeslayer riding on Saphira returns.
You wonder why he is here and then Saphira and him come right up to you and your friends holding large dragon eggs. You and your friends are dumbfounded, then he says to all of you, ¨Hello there I am Eragon bromson and I ask you to place your hand on the egg *Holds out the dragon egg* for I am looking for children to see if they are chosen to be the new generation of riders¨.
