Captain Kirk stood with intent to break up the small scuffle. "Scotty, get back to engineering!" He instructed.
Scotty sighed and stood straight. Chekov relaxed and Scotty quickly snatched the stylus away from him. "Yes, sir!" He turned and headed out the door.
Little Chekov's eyes began to brim with tears and his breath hitched in his throat.
Captain Kirk swore, heading to the chair and grabbing his arm. "We'll get you another one!" He said as he pulled him along.
"What am I supposed to do?" Bones demanded.
Spock, who was following the captain and Chekov, turned to face the larger boy. "You are to return to medbay immediately and standby until you are further instructed."
The captain nodded in agreement.
"Wait, you just want me to stand around doing nothing?" Bones asked. It would have been considerably more threatening had his voice not cracked when he spoke.
Spock gave a nod. "You are correct."
Captain Kirk dragged Chekov towards the turbolift. Spock went to follow but Bones grabbed his shoulder and pulled him back.
"Now just wait a cotton pickin' minute! I'm sick and tired of you ordering me around!" He almost yelled. "You green-blooded hob goblin, always walking around like you're better than me!"
Spock felt the heat rise in his cheeks and he shoved the taller boy away. "I am not a hob goblin!" He yelled. Before Bones could recover, he ran to the turbolift. The doors slid shut before the older boy could reach him.
Captain Kirk looked at the Vulcan, judging but saying nothing. Suddenly the ship jerked to the side and the turbolift paused for a half second.
"Captain! The Klingon vessel is approaching!" Uhura said over the intercom. "They're hailing us, sir."
Once they arrived on the bridge, the face of a battle hardened Klingon filled the main screen. It sneered, its eyes full of burning hatred. "Cap-tan Kirk!" It growled. "You thought you could escape. You have-" It suddenly stopped, nearly choking on its words. "What is this?!" He demanded, observing the changed crew.
"V'orakaf," Kirk said, his eyes narrowing. "I'm surprised you managed to keep up."
The Klingon studied the display closely. "Children?!" It said in alarm. "Where is Captain Kirk?!"
"I am Captain Kirk."
The screen suddenly went blank and nothing but stars could be seen through the thick glass.
"Captain, the Klingon vessel is hailing us again." Uhura said.
"Put it up on the screen."
The Klingon appeared on the screen again. "Captain Kirk," It growled. "You thought that you could escape from the..." It hesitated as the same crew watched him. The Klingon was now genuinely confused. "What is this trick?!"
Captain Kirk folded his hands together and shrugged. "It's no trick."
The Klingon spat. "I do not like being made a fool!"
"We are the crew of the USS Enterprise." Captain Kirk told him. "You are hereby in violation of the treaty by entering Federation space. The ship's weapon systems are online and we will not hesitate to blow you to pieces."
The Klingon stared blankly at the captain. He seemed more alarmed at the Captain's current state then at the threat of imminent destruction. "I do not understand what is happening."
"Yeah well join the club." Kirk responded.
"I do not wish to join any Federation club!" The Klingon roared. "Whatever trick you are trying to do, you will suffer and you and your crew will be destroyed by the-!"
"Sulu! Go to warp! Now!" Captain Kirk ordered.
The Klingon yelled as the screen vanished and space began to warp around them. The brightly colored nebula passed in an instant before the ship came to an abrupt stop, tossing the crew to the ground like rag dolls.
Captain Kirk pushed himself up, looking at the colored nebula falling away in the distance as the ship drifted through space. He stood, realizing he was back to his normal height. He looked at his hands, the Starfleet Uniform now fitting the way it should. Everyone was returned to normal.
Captain Kirk turned and sat back down in his chair, unable to help his grin as he hailed the engineering deck.
"Scotty here!" The chief engineer replied in his ordinary voice. "She took a beatin', but the crew is all back to normal, sir!"
"As always, excellent work Mr. Scott!" He turned back to his crew, the smug grin still on his face.
"Alright, let's get moving. Set a course for Starbase-six, warp factor seven."
"Yes, sir!" Sulu said, bringing the ship into warp.
