Aubrey's P.O.V
"Bre, how long are you gonna freeze everyone out!" Heidi snapped, continuing to nag me about my recent behavior while I finished getting dressed for day two at this new school.
Even after sleeping on it over night, she was less than thrilled about the way I treated those boys at lunch yesterday. But I knew this also just had to do with how little her and I have talked since I moved here this summer. We used to be so close and like my mum, she thought she would be the one to get me out of this funk.
"Like seriously," Heidi continued. "I'm going out of my way to make sure you're taken care of at this school and you go and diss my boyfriend and friends like that?" I scoffed, looking to her through the reflection of my full-length mirror as she sat on the edge of my bed dressed and ready for school.
"First of all, I never asked you to do that Heidi." A dry chuckle escaped her lips; her arms folding beneath her breasts as she looked to me with all of her sass. "Second of all, forgive me if I don't feel like surrounding myself around a bunch of tattoo covered assholes."
"Wow." She breathed. I rolled my eyes and went back to putting on my eyeliner in the mirror. "You know nothing about them Aubrey. Just because they have tattoos and piercings doesn't mean they're like Dyl-..."
"DON'T!" I snapped, turning around to face her with so much rage on my face. She rose to her feet, a sigh escaping her lips as her arms fell to her sides.
"I'm sorry. But it's not fair of you to judge them based on appearance." I shook my head, tossing my eyeliner on my dresser right beside my mirror. "I've been best friends with these boys since I was like five Aubrey. They aren't bad people." I scoffed.
"You think I'm judging them because of their tattoo's and piercings?" She looked to me with furrowed brows, nodding her head as if that was the obvious case. "Heidi, I don't care for your boyfriend and his boys because I can already tell what kind of fucked up people they are without even talking to them." A dry chuckle escaped her lips. "They rule the school, especially the girls, right? And they even go as far as to pass them on to one another as well, yeah?" Heidi scoffed.
"And? It's not their problem if girls are being stupid and opening up their legs for them. It's not like they force them to do it." I had to laugh at the ignorance of my stepsister.
"Oh I'm sorry. So since they don't make girls do things, objectifying them is still okay?" Heidi rolled her eyes looking away from me as she folded her arms beneath her breasts again. "I don't respect people who don't respect me and it's honestly sad to see that you befriended a group of boys who don't respect a species you're actually apart of."
"That's not fair Aubrey! D-..."
"THAT'S NOT FAIR?!" I roared, cutting her off as I stepped closer to her. "NO! What's not fair is the way every girl they have manipulated and violated was left feeling when they tossed her out of their rooms and never contacted her again! What's not fair is the judgment and shit talking every girl they've shagged had to endure after they told the entire school how great or awful she was in bed!" Heidi froze, as I stepped even closer to her; already fighting my tears as my heart broke for every female they've ever touched. "And what's not bloody fair is how each and every single girl they led to believe meant something to them, lost a piece of herself when she trusted them!"
"Aubrey." She tried; my tears slipping down my cheeks.
"NO! Stop trying to defend them because you can't! They are assholes and the ONLY thing separating them from Dylan." I paused, my heart dropping saying his name. "The only thing separating them from Dylan, is that they don't force themselves on women." I looked into her blue eyes, and like me she was tearing up. "They might not rape girls, but that doesn't make what they do okay... and it never will." The room fell silent and we both just stared at each other before I wiped my eyes down.
