"hey, kid! where are you going?"

"to a friends house" she turned around, facing her father.

hopper raised his eyebrow.

"you going to see that wheeler boy again?"

eleven rolled her eyes, a smile planted on her lips.

"no, dad. not today."

"alright, be back by 7:00pm!"

"okay!" she said, stepping outside.

"that's on the dot!"

"yeah, yeah! okay!" she shouted, closing the door behind her.

"it's okay, el. really" they pulled away from the hug.

"i've been a real bitch to you. you don't deserve that, max"

max clicked her tongue, pulling el into another warm embrace.

"friends?" el asked as they pulled away and stuck her hand out to her.

"friends" max nodded, shaking her hand.

"and..?"

"and... i left"

"you guys didn't even kiss?!" max threw her hands in the air.

"max!" el hit her with the pillow.

"i'm just saying, let's face facts, you haven't sucked face in what... seven months? you're hormonal teenagers!"

"it wasn't the time" el gazed at her.

max smirked, lifting her hands in surrender. jane sighed, rolling her eyes as she let her body fall to the bed.

"yeah, i mean. we're cool now, so-"

"you guys are back together?" lucas asked.

mike, lucas, dustin and will walked together through the school hallways. mike just had told them about last friday, and of course they all were bombarding him with questions.

"uh- i mean. no? we didn't really talk about our romantic relationship"

"you're gonna ask her out?" dustin interrogated him.

"i don't know! not- right away! i mean, we have to reconnect, right?" mike ran his fingers through his dark locks.

"reconnect?" will laughed.

"you guys have literally been in love since you were, what? 13 years old?" lucas pointed out.

"as cheesy as it sounds; even if you didn't want to, el and you have and will always be connected in some way" dustin said.
