Recently, I've been reading many young adult novels that deal with mental health issues. Protagonists that deal with depression, anxiety, eating disorders. I read those books in order to not feel so alone with my problems, to relate. But the thing that stands out the most, is the way the parents in - most of - these novels handle the situation their child is in.

The support these teenagers get is sometimes so overwhelming to read about. Their moms being able to surround the child with love and understanding in such a difficult situation is just lovely. Them not being mad at their son or daughter when they are too afraid to go outside or make a phone call. Them not yelling at their children for not being able to complete a simple task, like getting out of bed or taking a shower.

Yeah, I wish my mom would just understand.
