Chapter 5 Dinner And A Talk

Cutters POV
We were eating in the kitchen,the small table close to the ground had a lot of food on it. We all sat on pillows as Jaune brought the last pot of food,everyone was all chatty chatty. We were all having a great time,everyone is laughing and talking about they're adventures. Me and Mason were engaged in our own conversation,"so how were you?" Well I was looking after Yang,so I had to keep a level head."So um...is that all?" For the most part I was...worried,after you left I tried to be there for Yang and tried to keep myself from breaking down."I'm sorry I put that on you,I should have-",hey bro it's ok. I told you I'd look after her,"I'm glad you kept her safe". Yeah well she can definitely look after herself,"ha yes she can". We both chuckled,I took a sip of tea and Mason took a big swig of whiskey,I stopped drinking and took the bottle from him."Hey?!" I smiled and took a big sip,he chuckled and everyone looked at us. When I stopped drinking I gave it back to him,damn....that is...st...strong."That's why you take a few small ones before doing that",I think I know how to drink. He and everyone laughed. After that we all started to talk together reminiscing on past events. Weiss begins to tell us how she almost hurt a civilian who was talking badly about how Vale got attacked and how Beacon fell,she said she summoned a borbatusk. Then Nora begins to say she doesn't believe that,and to her and everyone's surprise Weiss summons one right next to Nora. She screams and jumped away from the white beast,everyone laughs at her and continues to talk. Then Yang stands up and shows everyone her robot arm,everyone is in awe,especially Ruby."it's not a replacement for the real thing,but I'll make great use out of it". Mason then looks at me,"when did she get that?" One day,(Tai is the way the spell it on YouTube with captions as I just learned like last week)Tai came home with that as a gift from Ironwood hoping that would help Yang get back in the fight."And I guess it worked",yep. We then hear a loud thud,we quickly turn back to the gang. Nora had her arm on the table ready for an arm wrestle,we followed her gaze to Yang. She then said "wanna bet!" Oh shit,they got ready for arm wrestle. As they started everyone was cheering except for me and Weiss,Ren and Jaune were cheering for Nora,Mason and Ruby cheered for Yang,I was just laughing watching this go on. It was tie for a bit before Yang decided to do something,she shit her arm off pushing Nora to the wall with the robotic arm still in her grasp. Everyone was shocked except for me and Yang,Nora realized she still had the arm and threw it back at Yang screaming. Yang caught it laughing hysterically,later on Jaune was putting away the pots and stuff we used to eat. He then stated while doing so "oh I think I'm gonna be sick..." Yang then spoke up,"easy there vomit boy,I believe in you". "Oh we're doing nickname throwbacks now,wonderful". That started a topic of other people with nickname like Weiss,I was busy with helmet trying to update Sheila."what are you doing?" Mason looked at me as I messed with a small chip in the back of my helmet. I'm updating my A.I,as soon as I said that rose petals were all over me."DID I JUST HEAR YOU SAY YOU HAGE AN A.I!" I chuckled and removed my chip and put it in my hand,a small woman came out of it standing over the chip with a blue clear complexion. Shelia these are my friends,"Ruby Rose,Weiss Schnee,Yang Xiao Long,Jaune Arc,Nora Valkyrie,Lie Ren,and Mason Anderson. It's a pleasure to meet you all". Mason was the first to speak as he was the only one who wasn't in total awe,"isn't that....your mother?" The A.I is based on my mother,I uploaded a picture of her and she took her form. Yes it is Mason,Ruby spoke next"I love her!!! What can she do!" Well she an track all of you guys,she can update my hud in my helmet,she can analyze enemies weaknesses and fighting style,she can basically do whatever I ask."How did you make her?" I looked at Nora and said,well with spare parts from my other helmet. Before the CTT tower fell I had an updated chip that knew basically everything,they got information that was dated at ten time of their construction and a little before that due to our history."So you basically stole all the information she knows?" If you wanna put it like that sure,but she also has human characteristics,"I'm sorry there is no such thing as that high function of an A.I,there has never been an A.I,and there especially hasn't been one with human characteristics". I looked at Weiss then to Ruby who was looking sad,I spoke to Weiss but kept looking at Ruby. Then what was penny? Everyone stayed quiet,Ruby looked up at me. She gave me a small smile,she knew Penny was real. I didn't too,oh I also took something from our dear ol friend that could help us. Everyone was confused,Mason spoke up."What did you take?" Her info on Atlas,she was made my general Ironwood and someone else. From what I gathered back then I used to have updated info on the generals plans,but now if being a few months since then I believe they are out of date."So to answer the other question,you stole all the info your A.I knows",again if you want to see it like that go ahead. Then another question arose,"you said you could track us,how come you didn't track Ruby". Yang looked right at me,she was a little frustrated. I could only track them if they were in danger,and as far as I could tell. They still had their weapons on them,"that's how you tracked them! If someone took their weapons from them!" Yang I-"IF YOU WERE SMARTER YOU WOULD HAVE MADE YOUR TRACKING DEVICE BETTER!" I stopped talking,Yang was standing over me with her fists at her sides. I looked over at Weiss,"that saved me". Yang looked back at her,"what?" "That day you found me,Cutter found me first. He said that he got an alert that something wasn't right,that my weapon wasn't where it was supposed to be. Vernal had it,that's why he got an alert. He could have saved me then but he said he'd be back with you,he said you were going to that camp for a reason. So he went to look for you,then that day you came and so did he. Because of that alert,because of that tracking system. He found me and came back with help,he saved me Yang,you both did because of that tracking". Yang stayed quiet,everyone did. But then Mason said something,"well not me". We all looked at him,the look on his face said everything shit,"what was that supposed to mean?" "Uh...well..I-um...I....was in danger,and close to death right before we arrived in Mistral. I was poisoned and then I was impaled on a few small metal poles,he stood up and showed us his scars. Yang walked up to him and touched them lightly,"Cutter this isn't your fault. I know if you could track us you would have come right away,but it's nice knowing that you saved Weiss". She's my friend,you all are. And believe me if the CTT tower was still up,my tracking device would work no matter what. Mason chuckled and looked at Yang again who was still looking at the few scars he had,"well I guess I'm like you now Cutter". Then Jaune spoke up joint the conversation,"what does that mean?" I looked at him,then Yang who looked at me. I stood up and slowly lifted my shirt,everyone gasped and was shocked to find what was left on my body...forever. Back in the army me and Mason had some missions he had to do,a these game from one mission where I had to be captured by the white fang,they...didn't not like a human around them. So for about two days...I was...beat until I couldn't hold myself up anymore and couldn't feel anything,I put my shirt down. I looked around and said I know my tracking device is gonna crappy,but I'm trying to make dye with our situation. I then started to walk out of the kitchen,then Qrow and the kid Mason told me about stopped me."We need to talk".

We were in the living room,Qrow and Oscar(Ozpin) had updated to Weiss and Yang on what was going on. I stayed quiet,Cutter you seem...distant,is everything ok?" I nodded and said I need some fresh air,"are you updated with our situation?" Yes,I then walked to the backyard. I jumped up on the roof of the house and just sat there looking out into the distance,I put on my helmet and started to see if the update worked."Sir,did your friends not like me?" No Sheila,they are just sad. You are what I call,a collection of many things. And someone is frustrated with how my tracking works,"I have tried to update it but with the-",I know Sheila I know. But as far as I'm concerned,your amazing."Thank you sir",i smiled and said ok Sheila dismissed. She then went away,I took my helmet off and put it back into its block form. I put it in my pocket,and just looked at the sunset. Eventually Yang found me,she came up with me and sat next to me."I'm sorry,I didn't mean to get mad at you like that". It's ok Yang,I get that you wanted to from Ruby. And I know that it's very inconvenient of how it's works,when I was tracking you to find out where to meet up It worked because there was a threat riding with you. I'll try to fix how the tracking device works,but it'll be hard without all the CTT towers."It's ok Cutter,were all together now...well almost". I continued to look off into the distance,she then got up and jumped off the roof to go back inside. I just started blankly into the horizon,I really need a break.
