Normally I don't mind going to work- I love being surrounded by books all day, and I enjoy the peace and quiet. But today seems to be dragging on forever. I think it's because I want to go home and see Brad, I miss him so much even though it's only been a few hours. Luckily it's quieter than usual, so I figure that it's ok to get my phone out as it's unlikely anyone will notice. I text Brad saying 'I miss you' with a sad face.

He replies almost instantly with 'Did you bring lunch to work today?' I roll my eyes affectionately at that- it's not even relevant to what I was saying, but it did make me smile. 'No, I don't usually' I respond. I get no further answer to that, maybe it's a sign that I should actually do some work.

Whilst I'm shelving some books, I suddenly get a shock when someone taps me on the shoulder. I turn around and see Brad stood there with a plastic bag. I smile. "What are you doing here?"

"Maybe I wanted to read?" Brad suggests, a smirk on his face.

I huff. "I think not. Despite my best efforts I don't think you'll ever be a big reader."

"You're probably right." Brad agrees. "No, I came to visit my boyfriend especially since he said he didnt bring lunch."

"I don't go on break for another half an hour." I point out, smirking.

Brad rolls his eyes. "Honestly. I bring you food and here you are being ungrateful about it."

I laugh, then get a slightly angry look from a woman sitting nearby, so I lower my voice. "I appreciate you bringing me food. I'll go with you if you can hang until 1.30."

"There's almost no one here." Brad argues. "Surely no one would notice if you snuck off early."

I shake my head. "I'm not risking getting fired, not even for you." Brad sighs, but I know he doesn't really mean it. He pulls up a chair and sits near me at the desk, and with him keeping me company, the time goes a lot faster. Even the small children's book group doesn't annoy me as much as it usually does. Don't get me wrong, I like kids, but not that many at once.

At 1.30, me and Brad head off to the park just outside and start looking for somewhere to sit. "That's my least favourite part of the week." I mention as we sit down. "Honestly, who thought a library was a good place for a baby group?"

Brad laughs. "They're quite cute though."

"Yeah," I agree, "But they make loads of noise. Libraries are meant to be quiet."

Brad smiles. "I love kids. I want them some day."

"Me too, I think." I say. "But the idea of being responsible for another person scares me a bit. I can barely look after myself."

Brad laughs. "Tell me about it. I can't cook at all, I can only just make toast."

"You do make good sandwiches though." I comment.

"Just call me Gordon Ramsay." Brad jokes. For the next 40 minutes or so, we just sit in the sunshine eating our food and chatting. It's relaxed, and I'm surprised by how happy such a small thing made me. However, sadly I do have to get back to work at some point.

"I really need to go back now." I say slightly wistfully.

"Noooo." Brad protests.

I smile, stretching my hands out to help him stand up. "I'll be back by 6, don't worry."

"At least let me kiss your goodbye." Brad says. I lean down to kiss him gently- we are in public after all. As I head back to the library, he says "Bye Trissy, love you."

"Love you too." I tell him. "We should do this again."

"We should." Brad agrees. "See you later!" As I go back to work, I find myself missing him already. Bringing me lunch and us sitting out in the sun was such a sweet thing to do, I loved it. Small things like that are one of the many reasons I love him so much- he's so thoughtful.

The rest of the day drags on a bit, but I don't really mind as I'm still so happy. I'm not even bothered when someone gets angry with me about having to pay a fine, even though I'd normally take it much more to heart. Maybe it's because Brad's made me feel so much more confident,  so small things don't matter so much anymore. It's only been a few hours, but I'm already looking forward to seeing Brad again. I guess that's how having a nice boyfriend makes you feel.

I wasn't sure about this at first, but I thought it was cute ☺️ Also sorry for lack of update last week, I was super ill :(

I've had a good week- 3 uni offers (including one from my top choice) and I got Taylor tickets on Friday 🎉 Though we could only get one so I have to go by myself, but I'm just glad to be going tbh.
