"i told ya i'd catch ya."

eddie looked up at richie, his heart pounding in his chest. without thinking, he hugged the taller boy, shutting his eyes tightly.

"you okay there, eds?"

eddie nodded softly, taking a deep breath. he got down from richie's arms, standing upright, but to no avail, as his shaky legs gave out, and he fell right back into richie's arms.

richie smirked. "well damn, eddie, you've fallen for me pretty hard tonight, haven't you?"

eddie rolled his eyes at the stupid pun. "shut up, richie."

the curly headed boy just laughed. "so, i was thinking.." eddie looked up at richie as he spoke. "maybe we could go do something alone, just the two of us."

eddie smiled, a closed-mouth, adoring smile. "well, obviously."

"no, no, like, nobody else around at all. like... maybe go to the quarry and stargaze?"

eddie blushed. "you like to stargaze?"

"well, yeah.." richie blushed shyly. "unless you're not into that, which is totally cool. we can totally do something else."

eddie giggled. he made richie nervous, and he liked it. "no, that sounds wonderful."

richie slowly gave a toothy grin. "it does?" he paused. "i mean, hell yeah it does!" he held a hand out to eddie, who shyly took it, with a soft smile.

the two boys ran, although eddie couldn't run very far, or very fast. he had to stop and use his inhaler once, and richie had panicked, repeatedly apologizing to the smaller boy and saying that he could take him back home if he wanted to leave. eddie stopped him with small 'i'm fine's and reassuring words.

when they got to the quarry, eddie marveled at the view. sparkling moonlight illuminated the deep water below, making a waving, mirrored image of the black, night sky, with paint splatter stars scattered as far as the eye could see. the small boy let out a small gasp of amazement.

"oh my god, richie, this is beautiful.."

it was like his breath was taken away, but a lot less painful than when he had asthma attacks. this was a calming, soothing sensation that made his spine tingle and the corners of his lips just barely turn upwards, making his small, freckled face light up in wonder.

little did he know, the dark-haired boy with the thick-lens glasses was having the same experience, just looking at the amazement of the other boy.

eddie turned to richie, a wide grin spread across his face. "god, this is like a dream!" he giggled.

"i'm glad you like it, eds." richie smiled, little crinkles forming in the corners of his eyes. "i like to stargaze here a lot. it's...calming." the boy laid down on his back, motioning for eddie to do the same, which he obliged to, pushing the thought of the amount of germs in the dirt he was laying in to the back of his mind. he was here to have fun with richie, not worry about dirt.

the two stared up at the sky, watching the tiny speckles of light glitter and glow, pointing out the different constellations (richie knew more than eddie, and taught him the names). suddenly, eddie gasped.

"richie! richie, look!" he pointed, seeing a path of light stream across the sky. "it's a shooting star! make a wish!" he closed his eyes tightly, scrunched up his nose, and crossed his fingers. richie chuckled and just closed his eyes.

a few minutes passed and the star was gone. eddie smiled and reopened his eyes, as did richie. the two looked into each other's eyes. "what'd you wish for, rich?"

"i can't tell you. it won't come true then."

eddie giggled. "oh yeah."

richie smiled, ruffling the smaller boy's hair.
