*Rosaline*

It's another day in the office when I get the memo that I have a new client. I quickly read over the paperwork of this man realizing he's the mafia leader's son. I don't understand what it is about them but I hate them with a passion. They're just greasers who like playing with drugs, money, and prostitutes.

I give my assistant a call while still reading the paperwork. "Hello, Catherine. This, Edward Gold, is he in the jail now?" I question, setting the papers on the desk in front of me. She says yes and tells me where, so I pack my things up and head there.

I sign into the jail then go to find this "mafia man." Once I do find him I notice he's in his own cell, probably from fighting other people. "Let me in, James." I smile to the guard. He lets me in the cell and I notice the kid has scars and bruises on every part of his skin that I can see.

"Hello, my name is Rosaline Smith, I will be deafening you in your case. To be quite frank with you, I don't think we can win this one. You have quite the record, Mr. Gold." I say, sitting across from him in a chair. "Yeah, yeah. What do I need with a woman lawyer anyways?" He snarls in a Russian accent, standing and pacing.

"You need me so you don't go to prison for the rest of your life so sit your ass down and speak to me like I'm a human being, Mr. Gold. I can mess your life to in a matter of one word and two phonecalls." I bark back. His eyes widen but he sits and nods. "I'm sorry, ma'am. You can imagine that I'm angry."

"Let's discuss your charges." I start, satisfied with myself. He nods, putting his face in his hands. "You're being charged with a lot, I must say. First degree manslaughter, murder, drug dealing, prostitution, contempt, damn near everything in the books, shall I go on?" I say sarcastically.

"Just tell me what I need to do to get out of this." He groans into his hands. I take a second to judge how he's dressed and his demeanor. He has a torn leather jacket on, ripped jeans, messed up, rough looking boots, a cigarette in hand, however he got that.

"Alright, let's go." I groan, standing. He looks up at me, confused. "James, I'm taking this man out." I announce as he opens the door. "But ma'am, he's in custody." He objects, still allowing Edward to walk by him. "I'm his lawyer, i can take him where ever I need or want. I will be back with him by nine tonight."

James nods and Edward follows me silently. I sign us out and make him go to my car. "When is the last time you ate?" I question, setting my bag in the backseat. "Yesterday morning, ma'am." He answers politely. I nod to that, driving him to my home.

"Now promise me that if I show you where I live you're not going to have someone come kill me," I joke. He chuckles, shaking his head. "I promise." We pull into the driveway of my humble home and we both get out. I grab my brief case and the only thing to be heard while we're walking to my door is the thud of his boots and the clacking of my heels.

I open the door, allowing him to go in first. After I take off my heels and set my bag down I grab his shoulders, sizing him up. "Well if you-"

"Don't even. You look about the size of my ex boyfriend." I state, walking to my bedroom. I go through the boxes pulling out clothes and shoes. "He dressed almost the same, pick out what you want, shower, and change. I'll make you dinner then we can sit and talk." I offer, leaving the room.

I start on dinner, well I just make a few subway sandwiches, adding chips, serving them with a beer for him and wine for me. He comes back in, fully dressed and soaked hair. He looks very handsome with the blood cleaned off of his body. "You clean up well," I complement, taking a drink.

"Thank you." He says gratefully. He eats and drinks quickly, so I get him more food. "After this, if you make it you can have it." I say, handing him back his plate. "Thanks, ma'am." I watch him devour the food, picking up his plate and washing it, although I can tell he's still hungry.

"How does such a well mannered man get mixed in with the mafia?" I ask, pulling out his paperwork. "My father was the mafia leader so naturally I had to be the next so here I am." He says with a cheeky smile.

"You know, I can get you a plea bargain if you give me names." I offer, looking up to him. Immediately he shakes his head. "Are you going to plead guilty?" He shakes his head again. "Are you guilty?" This time he takes a minute, judging to see if he can trust me. "Of course I am."

I groan, quietly, rubbing my face around my make up so I don't mess it up. "I have a feeling you're going to make this very hard for me Mr. Gold." I can hear him shrug his shoulders. "I don't know what to tell you. I don't want to go to prison, I don't want to rat anyone out, and I'm guilty of everything on that list. Maybe even more than that."

"Fuck." I mutter under my breath. After a few minutes of silence I stand, grabbing the whole bottle of wine. I sit, pouring myself another glass then looking through the papers. "I don't think you should be drinking that much..." Edward says quietly, looking at the now half empty bottle.

"Help me understand one thing, why do you people think you're so much better than everyone else?" I ask, looking to the handsome man sitting at my table. He shakes his head and smiles at my question. "I'm just following what I was taught, ma'am."

"You were taught to rape and pillage?" I shoot back, maybe too harshly. "I'd never rape anyone!" He yells, slamming his fist down with a loud bang. I flinch at his sudden outburst, dropping my wine glass to the floor. Without saying anything he picks up the glass and uses a nearby rag to clean up he wine.

"I'd like to go back to the jail now." He whispers after he's done. He's turned away from me, looking out of my kitchen window that's just above my sink. I nod, grabbing him a bag with extra clothes and passing them to him.

I put my shoes on as he waits for me by the door, already having his boots on. Once I'm done he opens the door for me then heads to the car as I lock my door. When I turn around he has my car door open with his head hung low. I quickly get in, him closing my door, then he gets in on the other side.

I turn to him to say something but he faces the window with a sour face. "I shouldn't have said that," I speak, starting the car and pulling out of the driveway. "I shouldn't have punched your table." He replies coldly. "Don't shut me out man," I say, glancing over at him. "We're gonna win this." I state in a jokingly tone while gently punching his arm.

"No we're not." He mutters quietly. "I'm going to go to prison for the rest of my life and you're going to move on because I'm just a job to you." I stay quiet and he keeps his gaze out the window.

We silently drive to the jailhouse and from there I check him in a couple of hours early, then we sit in the cell together without a word spoken. "I'll promise to do my best if you promise to help me help you, Ed. The only way I can pass you off as innocent is if you help me."

"Alright, you're on." He says with a glint in his eye. "Everything you tell me is confidential, I can't say a word about it to anyone unless you give me consent." I say, thinking of ways to win this fight. He's lucky that they didn't just throw him in prison when they arrested him.

"Tomorrow the feds want to talk to you," I say, looking at the papers that I brought with me. "At one so I'll be here to pick you up around eleven so we have time to sit and discuss what we're going to say. I will bring you a suit to change into and I'll help you look presentable."

"You mean innocent." He chuckles. "Partially, yes. If you need anything phone me and I'll tell the guards to let you free of charge." I quickly write down my home number and office number. "I work a lot and I work late so try the office one first." He nods, taking the small piece of paper from me.

"Goodnight, Mrs. Smith." He calls as I leave the cell. "Miss," I correct to his surprise. "Goodnight, Mr. Gold."

With that I leave and head to my office. While I'm here I decide to look for all the loop holes that I can and to list them so we can go over them tomorrow. After that I look for the arrest report only to find that there isn't one. I take notes on to ask for that then after discovering that it's almost midnight, I decide to go home.

There's no way that we can win this the correct, legal way. All we have to go on is someone else's mistakes or loopholes. Maybe even deceiving the court which is easier than it seems. I'm not going to let this boy go to prison, but he's going to have to go by my terms if he doesn't. He'll have to listen to me and I think that's going to be a fight.
