Bilbo's P.O.V
There was something bothering me which was keeping me up. A voice, whispering in my ear in a language I didn't understand. I couldn't shake it and sleep wouldn't come. I lied awake on my back, hands clasped on my stomach, staring up at the roof wide awake having decided it was no use trying to go to sleep. It occurred to me out of the blue to check on the object I had acquired from the goblin tunnels. I glanced around at my sleeping companions and found that none was awake. Assured it was safe I carefully reached into my pocket and withdrew the object. Curling myself on my side to hide it if anyone were to wake.
I stared at it, it's beauty enchanting. My eyes could not be pulled from its glare. The ring was hypnotising, I could have gone on admiring it all night but my attention was ripped from the ring as I heard a yelp from the other side of the haystack I was leaning against. I stashed the ring back in my pocket and hurriedly positioned myself to look like I was asleep. I pricked my ears to listen to what was transpiring.
Y/N P.O.V
Flames engulfed the air and shimmered off a mirror, a huge mirror and blood ran in rivers on a great rock. You saw your friends, the company of Oakenshield laying in pools of their own blood, torn by blades and burnt by fire. The nightmare was vivid and you thought it was real. You woke up in terror and sat bolt upright. You couldn't see what was in front of you although you were awake. Fili, who had slept next to you shook your arm and tried to get you to look at him.
"Y/n, hey, look at me it's okay, it was just a dream." He cupped your face with one hand and turned your head gently to face him.
You look at him and his cold and dead eyes that you saw in your dream stare back at you. You clutch his arm and pull him into a tight hug, not wanting to let go in fear of what you saw.
Fili gives a little grunt of surprise but holds you tight understanding you need the comfort right now. You both stayed like that for a while but you pulled away once you felt like you wouldn't break apart.
"Sorry Fili."
"Don't apologise." He said with a hint of force. He stared up into your eyes.
"Are you alright?"
"Yes." You looked away because you couldn't stand to look at him. You liked him, hell you loved him but he didn't deserve someone as broken as you.
"Y/n?" He was still looking into your eyes and you decided that he deserved to know.
"Fili, I-I need to tell you something." He sat up a bit straighter, putting on this face he uses to be serious with his brother, a hint of a smile under there.
"I'm listening."
"I like you," he went from smirking to being shocked. "I mean I love you Fili. I just wanted to tell you, you know to be honest. You don't have to say or do anything." You dared to look up at him and he was smiling from ear to ear."Really?"
"Yes, why?"
He smiled even wider and cups your face with both hands and brings your face close to his and held it there, a bit unsure. You lean slightly forward and that was all he needed to kiss you softly on your lips. He pulled away but you followed him and kissed him again. You curled your hands in his hair and he held your sides."Wait," you pulled back this time. "Does this mean..." you didn't want to finish in case you had gotten your hopes up for nothing. "I love you y/n, I really do." He kissed you, deeper and more urgent and you reciprocated, smiling against his lips.
Bilbo's P.O.V
Yes, finally! I thought they would go on forever like that, neither one knowing if the other felt the same way.
