*The picture on the side is of Mr Garner
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I had somehow survived math, although I had to deal with Heather's rude comments that the teacher never once heard. Science flew by also, although all I did was scribble doodles in my notebook.
Although I should be paying attention, especially since it was the first day of school, I couldn't help but to think about Mr Garner, and how he so easily approached me, and how shy I had felt in front of him...and his touch...like liquid fire coursing through my veins. Why did he have such an effect on me? And why am I having these thoughts in the first place? He's a teacher, isn't he? It's against morals. It's wrong. I knew he had to be new here, because I had never seen him in the halls the previous two years I've been at this school. What class must he teach this year? Will I have him?
Everything happened in a flash and next thing I knew I was being helped up off the floor by someone familiar.
"Whoa, you okay? Those guys are jerks." said none other than Chase, as a group of jocks walked away laughing. I can't say I wasn't happy to see him, and I was looking forward to third period with him. I bent down and helped him pick up my stuff when the bell rang.
"Crap.." I mumbled. "Hey, don't worry about it. What's one tardy going to do?" he said in a reassuring voice.
As we walked in, all heads turned towards us and a few people whistled. My cheeks flushed instantly and Chase just laughed, like it was no big deal.
"And why are you late to my class?" said a familiar voice, and as soon as I heard it my stomach dropped. I turned around and found a strikingly handsome man leaning against the white board, and that man was no other than Mr Garner. "It's fine, take a seat. And Willow, do you need to see the nurse? You seem a little.....flushed" he chuckled and gave me a wink.
My blush grew hotter as I quickly looked around to make sure no one else had seen that wink, and took a seat next to Chase who had already been seated.
"Alright class, I'm sure you all are smart enough to figure out that I am you new English teacher. My name is Matthew Garner, but that is only to my friends and family. You are to address me as Mr Garner. Before we begin, are there any questions you would like to ask me?"
I heard almost all the girls in class start to giggle and thought to myself, "oh Lord."
One of the girls in the back, who I automatically recognized as the head cheerleader, raised her hand.
"How old are you?" she asked with a wink.
"Way too old for you, but if you really want to know, I was born in 1985. You can do the math. Now, are there any other questions?" he said, obviously irritated at the immature question.
I looked over at the cheerleader, quite amused at how much trouble she was having trying to figure out his age. Me being a math genius quickly calculated in my head that he was 27.
As I was watching her getting frustrated over a simple subtraction problem, I heard many other stupid questions such as,
"Are you in a relationship?"
Which he replied with ,"That is none of your business, but at the moment, no I am not."
And, "How young do you date?" and one from a jock, "Are you gay?", to the point were he finally said "Okay, enough with the questions. Let's get on with the subject."
English has always been one of my worst subjects, but Mr Garner made it interesting. I don't know how, but I found myself actually paying attention.
