I stood outside the classroom door. Why was I so nervous to see him? I mean yeah....he may have seen me practically naked but still.... I guess that was a good reason to be nervous. Would he mention it? How long had he been watching? Ugh, better just get this over with. I gripped the doorknob and slowly opened the door. I immediately walked to my seat and sat down. I looked down at my desk, examining the carvings etched in the wood, tracing them with my finger. I couldn't take it anymore. I quickly peered up, seeing that Mr Garner was sitting at his desk, reading some papers. He looked at them with pure concentration. He stroked his chin with his thumb and looked up. I quickly darted my eyes back to my desk. Just then the bell rang and he began calling roll.

"Justin Archer?"

"Yep."

"Mike Arnolds?"

"Here."

"Linda Bonning?"

"Present!"

"David Case?"

"Aquí!" which made a few of the students laugh.

And then he got to my name.

"Willow Davis?" he said looking up.

"Here" I said quietly, looking him straight in the eye which sent chills down my spine.

He cleared his throat, "Stephanie Dwills?" and so on.

"Alright class, today is a group discussion. I will you in pairs of two and over a two week time span you will read The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, and at the end of the two weeks, the both of you assigned will give a presentation" he said, starting to put us into pairs.

I don't know if it was my lucky day, or if he did it on purpose but Chase and I were put as partners. Mr Garner then handed Chase and I each a copy of the book. We discussed about the book and author a little and then watched a little clip about the 1800's which was interrupted about five minutes from the end by the bell signaling us it was time for lunch. I slowly gather my stuff.

"Um...I need to ask Mr Garner something" I told Chase as he was still gathering his stuff.

"Sure thing, see you at lunch." he said, grinning.

I slowly turned and started walking to Mr Garner's desk just as the last bit of students were leaving. I stopped directly in front of him. He had the sleeves of the shirt rolled up to his elbows, and his elbows on his desk. He had his tie loose, dangling from his neck, and his hair slightly messy. he was grading some quiz that looked to be from a different quiz.

"Yes, Miss Davis?" he asked, not turning his attention from the papers.

I thought for a second, why had I stayed after to talk to him? I then began to fidget with one of my rings, trying to figure out what to say. Why had I stayed after? I was just making A fool of myself! I began to become frustrated with myself.

"Did you need something, or did you just plan on staring at me?" he asked in a slightly irritated tone, finally looking up from his papers. I noticed the purple bags under his eyes and how tired he looked.

"I..uh...just wanted to apologize...for this morning" I said, starting to feel my cheeks heat up. "Why did I just say that?" I thought to myself, slapping my self in the face mentally. He set down his papers and leaned back in his chair, intertwining his finger.

"It's fine, Miss Davis. I too apologize... Let's not mention it anymore" he said, clearly embarrassed as he looked away. I could see a slight blush form on his cheek but then quickly disappear, "is there anything else you needed?"

"Uh, no." I said, still trying to figure out why I had staid after in the first place.

"Well then you should probably get to lunch" he said, returning his focus back to his papers.

I turned from his desk and slowly walking away hoping he would call me back. I didn't care what for, I just loved to talk to him.

"Oh, and Willow?"

"Yes?" I asked, spinning around and mentally smiling to myself.

"I was talking to Mr Cavender yesterday and he told me that if I wanted, I could pick one student from any of my classes to stay after school and help me with various things around the classroom such as grading, sorting through papers, ect. and I picked you. I hope you don't mind." he told me, shuffling through papers on his desk.

"Yeah, sure thing! I could totally help!" I exclaimed, a little too excited which made him chuckle. God. That laugh was never something I was going to get over.

"It starts today, hope that's not too soon," he said, looking up at me grinning, showing his pearly white teeth, "see you then?"

"Absolutely!"

"Great. Now you should probably get to lunch. See you then" he said, looking me straight in the eyes.

I smiled and quickly turned towards the door, I could feel his eyes on me all the way to the door.

"Things are going to interesting" and with that thought, I made my way to the lunch room, already looking forward to later today.
