a/n: sorry for lack of updates!!! I've been really busy getting ready for my last two weeks of this semester before EOC's & just busy in general!! i'm also going to see The Last Jedi on December 14th!!! I am so ready!!! alright, enjoy :).

The snowball was something you considered going to for a few days before deciding on watching movies with your friends at home. After all, you were never too much of a romantic person.

You sighed, reaching into your locker to pull out papers that had due dates long gone written neatly at the top, and books that needed to be returned to the library.

"Get your snowball tickets!" A young girl yelled down the hallway, passing out a few flyers as you just stared blankly at the back of your locker.

Deep down, you wanted desperately to go to that dance with your crush, and to dance with them. Romantic things weren't your favorite thing but you were still someone with feelings, and that feeling of your hands with his and your feet both in time together made your heart flutter.

"___, are you coming to the dance?" Dustin asked you, appearing beside you to open his own locker that was spilling with papers and unnecessary junk.

You shrugged. "I want to but no one would want to go with me." Dustin paused, looking over at you with a smile. It only caused one to grow on your lips, looking down at the ground.

"Come on, ___! You should totally come at least with your friends!" Dustin exclaimed, a small pout on his face.

Another sigh. "We'll see."

The bell rang overhead, you shutting your locker in response as Dustin quickly shut his to join you in the walk to your first period class.

You walked into your house, tossing your backpack on your white bed sheets, finding a crumpled up 'Snowball' flyer that was advertising the dance you so desperately wanted to go to.

You groaned, laying back on your bed. Your mind immediately went to Dustin. You had always had a slight crush on him because of how sweet he was, and his comedy was definitely the light of the group.

You smiled, but it quickly faded away when you realized he wouldn't ask you to go to the dance with him. Dustin only thought of you as a friend, and you weren't risking your beautiful friendship with him because of your feelings.

You covered your face with the paper as your mom walked in your room. "___, sweetie, you okay?" You removed the paper, sitting up. "No, I don't know what to do about this damn dance."

Your mom gave you a stern look. "First of all, language. Secondly, what about it?" Your eyes drifted off to a picture of you and Dustin on the last day of school last year. "I want to go to the dance but I want Dustin to ask me. Mom, he doesn't like me. We're just friends."

She put a loving hand on your shoulder. "Sweetie, if you ever want to talk to me about this, you know you can. And Dustin would he stupid to pass you up!"

You smiled softly, deep down still believing friendship would be the closest thing you'll ever have with him. "Thanks, Mom."

The next morning at school was interesting. The air felt lighter than ever between you and your friends, and you weren't sure why it was. "Guys?"

Dustin just kept his goofy smile, Mike staring at you with a soft smile painted on his lips. You sighed, grabbing your stuff for first period, the bell ringing in the distance.

You began to walk off, Dustin quickly catching up to you. "___?" He asked, you staring forwards as your lips moved without you thinking. "Yes, Dusty?"

"I have a surprise later for you." You turned towards him as you two walked into the room together. "Okay."

The end of first period was over, Dustin pulling you eagerly towards you guys' lockers where Mike was holding a sign so that you couldn't see it. It looked like the snowball flyer, you immediately becoming confused.

"Dusty?"

"___, would you do the honors of making me the happiest boy and go to the Snowball with me?"

Mike, Will, and Lucas stood behind him as you eagerly nodded, butterflies flying around your chest crazily. "Yes! Yes!"

You smiled as you wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him close to you. When you let go, Dustin was smiling proudly.

"I'll see you tonight then."

Your hair was up, converse on, and a simple dress on. Max had come over to meet up with you since you two had become very close. "You look great!" You exclaimed as she walked in the house.

"Thanks! So do you!"

A knock on the door, your mom ready with the camera, and four kids standing in the den of your small home in Hawkins. A smile was bright on your face, Max laughing with Lucas at the two of you.

"Alright, we should get going." You finally said, Max nodding her head in agreement.

You two walked into the snowball, Dustin's hand intertwined with yours, and a smile on both of your faces. You spotted Will and Mike in the back of the room, following Max and Lucas as you began in their direction.

"Hey, guys!" You said, excitedly. Dustin just kept smiling while Will smiled at the two of you.

"Zombie boy, want to dance?" A girl suddenly asked, Will hesitantly leaving his friends. You noticed Eleven came in, Mike going to her with a smile, and Lucas and Max began to slowly sway to the music.

You squeezed Dustin's hand. "Let's go, toothless." You joked, knowing he had teeth now but the name had always stuck with you. You smiled up at him, leading him onto the dance floor.

You placed your hands around his neck, his on your hips. He was stiff, but you managed to calm him down, relax him a little bit.

Just like that, the music played while you two swayed to the song that you both never wanted to end.
