Clove:
"Please"

"No"

"Pleeeaaase"

"No"

"Pleeeeeeeaaaaassssseeee"

"No"

"Pleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaasssseeeeee"

"Okay! If I try out for cheer will you shut up?" I groan, throwing my hands up in defeat.

"Yes," my best friend Glimmer replies smugly.

"I'm not a peppy person," I huff, giving the blonde girl beside me a poke in the ribs.

"Oh believe me hun, I know," Glimmer replies, batting my hand away. "But you're tiny, lightweight and have been in gymnastics since you were like 3, so you'll be a perfect flyer. Now, here's a binder full of cheers you need to remember," Glimmer says pulling things out of her bag, "And these are your uniforms and warm ups, they're a size small of course, your shoes, and duffle bag." I stare at my best friend in disbelief and blink.

"We don't even know if I'll make the team," I argue.

"Pft, Clove, I'm the captain, of coarse you're on the team, besides, tryouts were yesterday," Glimmer replies.

"Wait, so you cut other girls from the team, on the off chance that I'd give in to you?" I ask incredulously as I rummage through the contents of things Glimmer had dumped on me.

"Um duh," Glimmer states as if it had been the obvious thing to do.

"Glimmer! That's not how it works!" I exclaim.

"Well that's how it works now, besides, the school doesn't have a gymnastics team anymore and girl's Varsity soccer isn't until the spring. You need a hobby. The first practice is tomorrow and since we have last period together, you will be there." Glimmer smiles smugly and walks out.

"Gloating is not very becoming of you!" I shout after her.

"Kay girls, good job today!" Glimmer shouts out as we finish for the day.

I grab my waterbottle and take a gulp.

"Sooooooo- How ya like it?" Glimmer asks, running up to me with a wide grin.

"Eh, I thought it would be worse," I admit, closing my water bottle.

"Wait, your bow is crooked, I fix," Glimmer announces, stopping to straighten the bow pinned onto my ponytail. "So, Marvel is coming over to hang out with us today and I am literally so glad it's Friday, you don't even know, and apparently there's a new guy in our grade who moved in next door to him who he's bringing with," Glimmer tells me as she begins to ramble.

"Cool with me, maybe he knows something about AP Calc," I say with a shrug. "Did Abernathy give your class a 50 page review assignment too, or was that just the AP classes? When does he think I have the time for that?"

Glimmer rolls her eyes at me.

"He's really hot," she sings as we make our way through the parking lot.

"Who? Mr. Abernathy? Glim he's like- old."

"No the new guy!" Glim pouts, sticking her tongue out at me.

Oh.

"I don't give a shit," I sing back.

"Oh please. I bet you'll end up dating him," Glimmer jokes.

"Unlikely," I scoff.

We climb into the car and Glimmer turns the radio on full blast.

"If you say so. Anyways, the first football game is next Friday, and Marvel told me that this new kid, Cato Hadley, took Brutus's spot as quarterback this year, and there's this big upset in the senior class cause he's a junior in our class," Glimmer yells over the radio.
