Chapter 1

Shooting the arrow I watch as it sails straight into the centre of the target. This is how I get rid of my frustration. It's only been five months. Five whole months and I'm still not over it.

"Princess Harriet. It's time for the party there's ten minutes and you need to be ready." Says one of the many maids of mine from outside my locked room.

"What's there to celebrate. He's gone, why celebrate it. I'd prefer to just stay in my room." I shout back, firing another arrow.

"I understand Princess Harriet but you are needed out there." She says again.

"No they don't. No one 'needs me'. Especially not now." I call back getting annoyed that she won't leave me alone.

"Are you dressed in your gown yet Princess?" She asks, changing the topic a bit.

"No I am not and I won't. No one can tell me what to do." I reply pacing around my room.

"I'm just the messenger Princess Harriet. Your mother wants you." The lady replies, sounding annoyed.

"My STEP-mother. I know that this is your job and all but please tell my mother I won't be attending."

"Princess-"

"Don't call me Princess. Just Harriet ok?"

"Harriet... Please change and come down." Her voice sounds annoyed and frustrated.

"Ugh fine I'll come, but don't expect me to come for long." I reply. The maids footsteps walk away from my room and I flop onto my bed. Sitting upright I place my bow onto my shelf and take out my long navy dress.

Once iv put it on I try to get used to breathing. It's a tight dress that is loose from the hips down. It's made of a kind of silk and is very soft. Once iv figured out how to breath I open my door and step out. My blonde-brown curls fall over my shoulders and jiggle as I walk to the steps. Looking down I can hear the piano being played and talking happening. I start walking down.
