As soon the thought crosses my mind a wave of exhaustion comes over me and my eyelids drop as I fade out of conscious and into a deep sleep.
In my dreams I'm surrounded by fire but instead of feeling the heat of it I am welcomed. From a dark corner a mysterious voice calls to me and asks questions that I can't answer and from the corner emerges a lady dressed in rags similar to mine. She has long purple hair and from the light of the fire I see that she has different color eyes. One is purple and one is red and her skin is the color of dark chocolate. Then she says to me " It would be wise of you to put trust in the bird he means you no harm" The way she speaks seems so proper and I nod in agreement then I ask " Who are you and how do you know that he doesn't mean me any ill will? " Then she turns back to the corner that she came from and says "I am you and it is not wise to question yourself know soon you will understand everything that is happening to you now so do not worry; now awaken before trouble can find you and follow... what do you call him? " As she starts to fade I tell her " I'm going to call him fireball." " Well then go to him you will see me soon enough."
As I open my eyes I feel the chill of dawn and look to see that the sun has yet to rise. Then I look to see Fireball perched on a branch still asleep I get up to go wake him. As I touch the top of his head to wake him I instinctively snatch my hand back as if not to be burned. But then I remember " oh yeah thats right I'm some omnipotent witch and he is like my guide or something " suddenly I remember the plumes of smoke I saw when I came out of the cave yesterday. When I look up and ask" Hey Fireball you awake? There was a plume of smoke I saw earlier from the forest and I wanted to go there can you come with me?" A worried look comes across his face " Well I don't think that would be a good idea madame but I would like to assure you that all the villagers are safe and sound I heard the fire started from an unattended fireplace in someones house. " It relieves that no one was hurt but my curiosity about the village is still there so I say as more of a command rather than asking " Well, I still want to go so we"ll just pass through there on our way to town OK? " He looks concerned for a moment more and then he sighs and nods his head in agreement.
- An hour later... -
As i continue to walk down the lush mountain I look up to see copper rays just coming over the horizon and a mountain top. the light shines on the forest below and the miring fog that is starting to settle. A sense of peace comes over me and I realize that since the time I woke up in the cave this is the most relaxed I've ever been.

Then I continue to walk after 30 minutes or so I turn to ask Fire ball" How much longer until we reach the village ?" He takes a look around and then says " When we get down this part of the mountain it will be just past that forest down there. Hey Luna did you know that this mountain that we are looking at is called copper mountain because of its sunrises and its sunsets and that this part of the mountain is a well known proposal spot?" I shake my head no "I'm not really in the mood to talk with all this walking having me so tired. And I don't even know how long I slept last night so I'm running on low energy in the first place thus I do not have the energy to talk" I think to myself. Our walk continues for a couple more hours then we finally reach the forest at the base of the mountain and I insist that we take a break . So I sit on a log and take a breather and look at the sky . I can hardly see it now due to all the pine trees and the smells of the forest hang thick in the air. After a couple of minutes I get up and start to follow Fireball through the forest and soon I see a clearing up ahead and as we near the clearing I start to see the the crumbled ashes of the village ;and start to smell the smoke that is still slowly rising from the burnt buildings.
Finally after like three to two hours of walking we reach the village and as we walk down the main street of the town I get hit with a wave of sadness as thoughts of the family's life that were destroyed along with their houses that hold so many memories. Then I turn down what's left of a small alley and I see a pile of something at the end of it I turn to see if Fireball is following me which he had been doing the whole time we had been here. As I approach the pile I pull off the sheets covering the pile and a gasp escapes my lips. Tears slip from my eyes and a lump forms in my throat and all I can hear is static and I turn and see Fireball on the ground behind me looking away with a shameful look on his face and I ask him " What happened here and I want to know the truth this time." He looks around not looking me in the face " It was you." I start to glare at him tears streaming down my face " WHAT DOES THAT MEAN!? STOP SPEAKING IN RIDDLES", " You are the one who burned down the village because some of the townspeople killed some of your long time friends that were dragons and in a fit of rage you burned the village in the middle of the night . . . while they were sleeping. They shot you down with an arrow and you still continued to burn their village and when you were done you went into the forest and hid in the cave I guess where you died and reincarnated yourself and you should remember what happened after that."
After many minutes of silence I wipe the last of the tears from my eyes and I'm finally able to speak " Did anyone survive?" He thinks for a moment and says " Yes, there was one man who was trying to save his family; actually he was the one that shot you and then I saw him after the fire was out he collected all of the bodies and put them somewhere but I didn't expect to see this or for you to see this." A slow rage bubbles inside me even though I want to trust him the anger remains and hot tears stream down my face " So you were going to lie to me about what happened here!? I thought that I could trust you and the first chance you get you lie to me? If you didn't know that's the wrong way to build trust." He flies up to me with an apologetic look and his little head does what I assume to be a bow " I am truly sorry madame but I had no intentions of hurting you it was only to protect you so that you won't be burdened with this but maybe I should have told you about this from the beginning please forgive me and if you can then what would you like to do?" I think for a moment then I decide what I want to do.
" Ok first we will make a graveyard for everyone then we will head to town and see if anyone has seen the man from here and then we will rest up and get some new clothes that is the plan." I walk through the rubble thinking to myself and wondering who I used to be to have gone that far. I continue to look for a shovel or something that scoops.
- Two hours later ... -
" That is the last one." I wipe the sweat from my forehead and set down the shovel that I have been using. I turn to Fireball who is hovering nearby and toss the shovel to him. I feel a small bit of satisfaction as I finish buring the towns people but I still feel betrayed by Fireball and by myself. When I think of the lady that came to me in my dream it's hard to imagine her burning down an entire village and with that thought I push it all to the back of my mind and focus on the task at hand. Go to town, find the man, apologize and beg for forgiveness, and eat while getting new clothes. Learning my magic will come later but this stuff is top priority.
I turn to Fireball and say " Now we head to the village; hopefully we can find this man an I can atone for what i did to him." I look up to see the sun high in the sky and then I turn towards the main road that heads to the next town over and Fireball and I start our search for the mysterious man from the village.
