I empty out the bags, My sister who shares the apartment with me, since I can't afford the rent alone, walks towards me. "Hey," she grabs an apple from the fridge. "You know, I've been thinking." She stands leaning against the counter. "I want some holiday cheer! So, I think, we need a Christmas tree." She looks expectedly at me. "No, aren't we going to Mom's for Christmas? What's the point of a tree if you don't put presents under it? That's what everyone gets them for. And besides, they make a mess of pine needles." She crosses her arms. "We're getting a tree, whether you like it or not." I shake my head. "No way!" She gives me a mad look. "Your acting like a baby Juniper! Throwing a fit over getting a tree." She then starts putting on her coat. "I'm getting a tree. You don't have to come. Okay?" She takes her apartment key out and let herself out. "Wait, I'm going to come, I want to make sure you get a small, tidy tree." She grins and stops. "Hurry up!" New York City is busy at this time in the afternoon so it takes us a while to get to the tree place, which is fine by me. "Oo!" Missy (my sister) exclaims as she looks at the tall bushy tree in front of us. "No!" I shove her to the side. "Look, I agreed to a tree, but not a big bushy one. Got it?" She nods and rolls her eyes. "What 'bout this one?" She says trying a western accent. The tree she I saw considering is only slightly shorter and slightly less bushy. "No," I look around and finally spit a tiny skinny tree. "This one or none." She looks disappointed. "Your worse then grinch. But fine." I end up paying for the tree.
"What's this?" I look at a small box on our step. "I dunno, but it says Miss Juniper Snow, so it's not my problem." Missy steps past me carrying the small tree. "If you don't mind me, I'm gonna decorate the tree." She the next steps into our apartment. I open up the box inside are some Christmas chocolates. The card on the box says:
Dear Miss snow
Call me crazy, or creepy, but I followed you home. With good intentions of course. I want you to have some holiday cheer! So here's some chocolates. I do hope you enjoy them. And again I'm sorry.
"Who?" I ask myself. No name nor phone number I should left on the note.
