Hi. My name is Madison Michaels and this is the story of my life. Let's go back to the year of 2000, shall we? I was 10 years old and I was at school back in Chicago Ridge, Illinois.....

          March 11, 2000   (Maddie's POV)

"Give me your lunch before I beat the shit out of you", threatened Kevin Kuzur after pushing me against a locker. I was so petrified that I couldn't move or say a word. I just stood there looking up at his face that was slightly covered with his light brown hair, but I could still see his dark brown eyes looking at me with hatred. (He was shorter than Jason, my older brother, but he was still alot taller than me... and 3 years older. He was known as "Mr. Popular", well at least in the upper classes.) At that moment, he punched me in the stomach so hard that I wailed in pain and fell to the floor. "That's what you get for not doing what you're told, asshole." he said looking at me with a smirk on his face. Then he picked up my lunch and walked away.

I let the tears stream down my face after he left. My stomach hurt so badly from the blow that I felt like I was going to puke. I was about to stand up when I heard a familiar voice from behind me. "Maddie! Oh my God! Are you ok?" I turned to see my older brother running towards me, his face filled with worry and anger. He helped me up and gave me a hug. "What happened? I'm going to kill whoever did this to you." "Please don't hurt him big brother. I don't want you to get in trouble because of me" , I told him looking at him worriedly. He looked at me seriously and said "I'm not going to let that person get away with what he or she did to you.

(Even as a 14 year old, Jason was a strong and protective person. He was the only kid in my family that went to my school and he was one of my only friends. He wasn't popular at all, but at the age of 14, many girls did find him attractive although, I didn't really understand what the meaning of that word was at the time. Bridget Mc Lean was the only other friend I had, but unfortunately she didn't go to my school. She was my best friend and she still is to this day .Anyway, the only problem with my brother is that once he sets his mind on to something, you can't stop him from doing it. )

"Wait... did you say..he? Don't tell me Kevin hurt you again.", he said getting even angrier. "What did he do now? Man, he really is going to get his ass whipped!"  This is exactly what I was afraid Jason would do. " Jason , please calm down. You're scarying me." I said.  "I'm sorry Maddie. It's just.. I can't stand someone hurting you. Now, tell me everything."

I told him everything that happened and by the end of my explanation, his face was so red with anger that I thought he'd burst. He did try to keep himself calm for my sake though. "I'm going to  show Kevin a piece of my mind right now and then after that I'll give you some of my lunch.  Where is he? And don't worry little sister. I'll be careful." he said." I saw him go right, so I think he went back to his classroom. " I said to him and then I smiled. "Thank you, Jason.... for everything. You're the best!" He smiled back at me, gave me another hug, and then went off to find Kevin.

(You might be wondering why Maddie and her brother were in the same school. Well, the school that they went to contained all the grades from (1st-8th). )

        (Jason's POV)

As I walked through the hallway, I was so angry that I could feel the blood gushing through my veins. What was it about Maddie that made everyone everyone despise her so much? She was such a sweet, shy, and smart little girl. It's true that she was overweight, but looks aren't the only things that matter in a person.

I paced over to room 15, Kevin's classroom, to see if he was there. The door was open so I stopped right in front of the doorway. I stood and looked around the room to see if he was there. Sure enough, I spotted him flirting with Sandy and Connie who were in his class too. Sandy had blonde hair with blue eyes and was the shortest girl in his class. Connie, on the other hand was pretty tall for a girl. She was almost as tall as Kevin and she had brown eyes along with striking raven black hair. They were both popular girls and looked down to many people, so I wasn't not surprised that it's Mr. Popular they chose to hang out with.

Anyway, back to Kevin. I've known him since 2nd grade and surprisingly, he was a normal and nice kid back when we first met. We didn't have any problems with each other and we were actually pretty good friends. That all changed however, when my little sister started attending this school and I caught him bullying her. We've basically been enemies ever since he found out that she was my sister and that I'd protect her no matter what. I really didn't understand what his problem was with Maddie. Better yet, I didn't know why he was teasing and bullying a girl 3 years younger than himself.

I glared at him despisingly for one more moment and then I started pacing towards him. As soon as he noticed me going in his direction, he stepped in front of the girls and smirked at me. "What do you want, jerk? Come to get your sister's lunch back, did you? Well, too bad. I already ate it." "I don't care about the stupid lunch you idiot. I can solve that problem.", I said and stopped standing face to face with him. "I'm enough of you hurting my sister constantly. What's your point in bullying her? Huh?! Picking on little kids won't make you cool. Why don't you pick on someone your own size?" I pushed him and he almost fell. Honestly, the moment I pushed him, I regret it and you'll see why in a moment. He almost tried to hurt me back, but before he got the chance to do anything, Connie came up to us and said, " Why don't you guys settle your problems somewhere else?" "Alright", said Kevin. "Meet me at the park tomorrow at 5 o'clock and we'll settle this. One thing that everyone knew about Kevin was that he was a strong kid that took Tae Kwon Do lessons. Honestly, I was a little afraid of the next day, but I wasn't going to let him see that. I gave him the "you better leave my sister alone or i'll kill you" look and then I went to give some of my lunch to Maddie before going back to class.
