Shit goes down in this chapter lmao

It had been weeks since jimin had actually talked to his doctor about wanting a hearing aid, and today was the day that he would finally get one.

He couldn't believe this was happening. He had never even heard his own voice since he had hit puberty, he'd never heard jungkooks... It would be reasonable to want to hear after you've found someone you like that much.

As Jimin sat on his bed, kicking his feet and smiling, he couldn't help but think about how he was all jungkooks but no one was aware of that yet. At lunch they would have to sit a few seats away from eachother and pretend they weren't absolutely infatuated with one another.

Jimin sat waiting, staring at a wall while his mom went out to pick up the hearing aid. It was like opening up a new world for him

He fell back onto his bed and covered his face with his hands as he smiled like he never had before. He had never even heard his favorite thing in the world meow.

"Gaeul!" He called, snapping his fingers. Soon a small cat came running up to him. He couldn't wait to hear himself call for her, or hear the footsteps clinking against the tile as she ran his way, or the meow she made every time she ran up to him.

He couldn't wait to hear jungkooks laugh, his own laugh. He couldn't wait to hear his mother and father talk to him like when he was young, or the teacher talking at school.

Jimin nearly faceplanted against the carpet when he heard the front door open, ignoring gaeul comepletly. He almost slipped on the floor due to his socks but he made it to the door by the time his mother had both feet in the house.

His mother was holding a small box shaped like one that you would buy a phone in. Their family was practically going broke after this because these tiny things that went in his ears costed 4,335,200 won. (4,000 US dollars.) He worked and worked for the weeks that he could to pay them back as much as possible for this.

He grabbed the box from her hands and ran over to the couch where he fell on it and took a deep breath. 'are you ready?' his mother signed to him. In a small bag in her other hand she pulled out a small box of tiny batteries. She set those by her son and sat down beside him.

His father came rushing into the room a few seconds later, sitting next to Jimins mom. He couldn't believe this was the first time he actually had a chance of hearing in over 10 years.

Slowly, he opened the box, revealing two small hearing aids. He was about to pass out. Once he put the batteries in them and put them in his ears he would see life from a few perspective.

Jimin wanted a cochlear implant at one point when he was younger but the doctors said it was too much of a danger since he was prone to infection. So now, he actually could get what he wanted.

He put the batteries in and looked at his parents who looked just as happy as he did for approval. His father nodded and his mother just looked like she was going to cry.

Jimin put the first hearing aid in his right ear, wrapping it around the back and trying to get them to stay quiet until he got both in.

His mother was clearly a mess, crying into his father's shirt out of happiness. He felt something soft against his arm and then he heard a meow.

This was easily the best moment in his life.

The next day at school, Hoseok slid jimin a note when he got to his locker. Jimin smiled and crumpled the note. "talk to me." He deadpanned. Hoseok looked shocked as Jimin pointed to his ear out of instinct. "I'm going to trick jungkook at lunch, so don't tell him." Jimin warned. He decided he was okay with his voice even though it sounded kind of feminine to him. He figured it was okay if he still knew how to speak.
