Did you guys know I have social anxiety?
-A tear or two slid down jimins cheeks as he held his hearing aids in his palms. His sobs were becoming heavier but he just couldn't seem to do anything about them. He just sat by his desk sobbing.
On the other line of the phone was also silent, not that jimin could hear it, but it was jungkook.
The boy placed only one of the hearing aids in his ear to hear the other boys tears. "jiminie, hyung. Please let me come over. Let me hug you. let me touch you." The boy cried, leaving jimin to let out a sob.
"I can't kookie, I don't want to hurt you." The elder said shakily. "I might not ever look the same, I might not even hear you anymore kook..." The boy ranted, just wanting to love jungkook and cuddle with him but he couldn't.
The other line of the phone - jungkooks side - was shaky and almost disconnected. It finally hung up after a while, leaving jimin to lay down on his bed, holding his knees up to his chest and cry like a child.
He didn't even move when his door opened, he knew that it was his mother though. "jimin, are you okay?" She asked gingerly, going over and sitting by him. "Eomma, I might just die because of this surgery." Jimin said, his voice cracking.
He looked at the door again, seeing a more than familiar man. "jimin.." he said softly as the boy looked at him, basically pleading for him to come over and just hold him.
That's exactly what jungkook did. He scooped jimin up and held him, rocking back and forth as he snotted and cried all over his t-shirt. Jimins mother left without either of them noticing, the boys just laying down at that point.
Jungkook held jimin like he was the rarest thing on Earth that was the last of its kind and in a way, he was. To jungkook at least.
Jungkook pressed a quick kiss to jimins forehead, not wasting a second smothering this boy he held with everything he possibly could because who knows, this could be the last time he ever does hold him.
"Who's gonna take care of you, jeon?" Jimin mumbled through tears. "you, baby. I love you to pieces and I know you'll make it." Jimin began to cry harder after that, jungkook decided he would call this t-shirt off and change once the waterworks had stopped.
"Kook. You don't understand. I have a 27% chance of surviving. It's either I stop hearing and I begin getting fed by my parents like a toddler, I would have to be followed around every second of my life, and have to pee with someone beside me like a cripple, or I go through with the surgery and have a massive chance of death. Choose wisely."
They sat in silence for a bit after that, jimin shivering. "after the surgery..." Jimin paused. "will you be there to care for me?" Jungkook smiled at jimins thoughts, if jimin killed his entire family jungkook would be the one person to stand by his side, he didn't care.
"Jimin. I will always be there for you. I'll feed you rice from baby spoons, I'll carry you to all your classes like a prince, I'll come over when you can't sleep, I'll give your cat food and clean the litter box when you're too tired to do it. I'm not leaving this house until you ask me to."
...
Jimin and jungkook hugged one last time before jimin was sent off with his parents. This was it, he thought. That could have been the last time he'd see his baby boy, his angel.
Tears began to fall down his cheeks as he turned around to face his parents who were there for him, along with hoseok, namjoon, and Jin. He began to sob as his mother held him in his arms like he was a child all over again.
Hoseok came over and patted jungkook on the back whispering "it'll be okay" and "jimin is strong enough." And a ton of other comforting comments.
They all found chairs in the waiting room area and namjoon and Jin held onto jungkooks hands as he cried nonstop, nothing being able to even disrupt the tears.
...
It had been a few hours since jimin had been sent off. Hoseok and Jin had managed to fall asleep, jungkooks parents had left, but jungkook and namjoon were talking about what they were going to do when jimin came out of the surgery. How they were going to celebrate and make him feel like he was the only thing alive.
A nurse came over to them and got their attention.
"Are either of you jungkook?" She asked politely, smiling as jungkook nodded fast and alert. "a patient has asked to see you." His mouth hanging open a little, he looked at namjoon and back at the nurse, then standing and following her. She opened the door a bit, letting jungkook in.
"Hi, baby." Jimin meweld softly, careful not to speak too loud. "Hi jiminie." He said as he ventured over to where jimin was laying, jimins eyes half closed. He looked extremely tired. "are you okay?" Jimin said to jungkook, a hand coming up from under the covers to feel jungkooks flushed but pale face.
Jungkook nodded, suppressing tears and pressing his lips together. The youngest boy sat in the chair next to jimin, running his fingers through the boys hair as he closed his eyes and breathed heavily. "I puked a lung out back there." Jungkook laughed lightly.
Jungkook held jimins hand with his other free one, staring at the boy as his breaths seemed to get heavier. "I'm not gonna lose sight of you until you act like the park jimin I first met, mark my words."
