It was just another ordinary night, Jamie was in his bed throwing the ball at the ceiling. His mom always told him to stop, and that one day the ceiling would break and fall on him. Jamie yet to believe his mother and the things she says, it was faulty in his eyes. Jamie was going threw major depression and turned to no one for help. He stayed in his bedroom, bed actually. He wore the same clothes for a week now, to him it seemed that no body could do anything, not even himself. When the clock struck midnight Jamie had barley begun to fall asleep when his phone rang. It was indeed his only best friends Serenity.
"Serenity, why are you calling so late," Jamie said in a tired voice.
"Jamie, I am so sorry, but I need you to pick me up from the club please, my Uber bailed and I wasted all of my money on drinks." Jamie sighed, "Fine, you owe me, now where is this club."
"I'll text you everything, please hurry this guy is asking if he could buy me a drink," Serenity said in in panicked voice.
Jamie grabbed his keys off the table and walked out to his car, his mom was sound asleep and he didn't tell her where he was going. She would want to go with, and Jamie didn't feel like talking to her. He thought she would say something like, "Oh baby I am so proud of you for leaving the house" or "Congrats Jamie, we should celebrate." When Jamie arrived at the club, there were drunk guys passed out on the floor and they reeked of Vodka Tonics. The music was so loud Jamie got a headache inside his car in the parking lot. Jamie dialed Serenity's number and placed the phone to his ear. No answer. After 3 tries of calling he tried again, "Pick up the phone dammit." With a loud grunt he unlatched his seat belt, while fiercely opening the car door. He thought to himself, Uh she makes me get out of my car and make social contact. The bouncer in the front of the club let Jamie in without checking the list, it was midnight and Jamie was sure he could give two shits. The first place Jamie decided to look was the bar, but she wasn't there.
A voice called Jamie's name and he hoped it was Serenity, "Hey Jamie, wow man I haven't seen you in forever, how are you." Jamie turned around it was an old high school class mate, who barley knew Jamie existed. "I'm fine, thank you...uh how are you Dylan," Jamie said as he stretched his neck to look over the crowed to see if he saw Serenity. Dylan was drunk and he replied with an inaccurate answer, "Yah man, I'll catch you later." Jamie was quite intelligent, and being surrounded by straight imbeciles.
Jamie continued walking through the hectic club as he heard another familiar voice. "Hey Jamie, wow you still look sexy as hell," said Amber another old friend. "Ah, thank you amber but I don't take interest in women," Jamie had said now irritated not knowing he was going to run into all these people he knew from high school. Without saying anything else to his old classmate Amber he left shoving past her and everyone else. Looking for her for one hour, Jamie had to pee, a young club worker directed him to the bathroom. Jamie pushed open the door to the men's bathroom when he heard a scream coming from the supply closet. He ran over to the closet and barged in, there he saw a man and Serenity. His hand was against her throat and she was trying to back away. The man let go of his grip, and Serenity ran into Jamie's arms coughing. Serenity was still under Jamie's arm and she started to say something when they got to the car. Tears were forming in her eyes, "Thank you Jamie, I didn't know what he was going to do if you didn't come." "I'm glad you're okay, I'll take you home," Jamie said as they both ducked their heads to get in the car. "Serenity, I have something to confess," Jamie said after a long period of silence. "I am gay," he said looking over at her since they were at red light. "Jamie, that is...it's awesome," Serenity replied with actual happiness, even after what had happened moments earlier. She grabbed his hand and they started singing The Golden Girls theme song all the rest of the way home. When Jamie pulled back into his drive way he said to Serenity, "You can sleep over if you want." Serenity smiled and walked inside.
