I look at him when he enters the elevator and I wonder where we will go.
"Where do you take me?"
He looks at me and answers with a friendly smile which makes my heart jump: "I wanna show you something! You'll see!" I'm not sure what to think about him... about the butterflies in my stomach when he looks at me. God, I've just known them for some minutes now. What is wrong with me? I have to concentrate myself on my appointment with Mr George. That's the most important thing now. I've been waiting for this for such a long time. "You come?" Niall interrupts my thoughts. He's standing in the door of the elevator to keep them open. Only one gaze at him is enough for me to make me smile. I nod and enter the elevator.
"So, I hardly don't know anything about you. Your name is Laura. And I think you want to become an actress and you're pretty excited, aren't you?"
"Well, yes. I'm nineteen years old and yeah. Actually, there's nothing special about me or my life. I'm just an ordinary girl living in London. So you see: nothing special!" While he was listening to me, he had to smile. "What is so funny about this?" I wonder.
He answers my thoughts, have I said this loudly or can he read them? "Nobody is normal, Laura. Tell me about you, about your life!" I have to laugh. "Ok, but if you're bored, you'll have to tell me okay?" He nods with a cute smile. “Okay. As I have already told you I live in London with my mother, my older brother and my younger sister. We moved here from a little village in Cornwall after my…” shit, I haven’t told anybody about the thinks my father did to us. Why am I about to tell him then?
You’ve only known him for twenty minutes!
My mind reminds me. I can’t tell him about this. Not yet.
Not yet? Laura, you need to stop dreaming. It doesn’t matter how much you would like to be in a relationship with him. It will not happen! So go on with some small talk and after that you will never see him again…
“After what?” he interrupts the voice in my head. “After my mother got an offering for a new job” I answer him without looking in his eyes – his deep blue eyes. He doesn’t say anything. “Well” I have to say anything. God, how I hate silence. “For me it was pretty difficult to move into a foreign city without knowing anybody except my family. But as the time passed it was easier and I’ve found some good friends.” I have to laugh. “That’s also one of my hobbies. Just hanging out with friends. Watching a movie, talking about some bullshit or cooking which I love!” He smiles and adds: “Oh me either. But I even prefer eating.” he laughs. “Some people say that I’m the person who eats the most.” How I like the way he laughs. You just have to join him. Luckily he didn’t notice that this was a subject I don’t like talking about.
NIALL’s POV
“For me it was pretty difficult to move into a foreign city without knowing anybody except my family. But as the time passed it was easier and I’ve found some good friends” Laura says and laughs. Something is wrong with her. Maybe there was another reason why they had to move. She doesn’t seem like a person that has troubles by getting to know people. She’s really open minded and – yeah, I have to admit that she’s really cute. I like her laugh. I don’t know what it is what makes me think of her this way, but something has changed since the first time I saw her. Suddenly there were butterflies in my stomach and I hardly knew what was going on. But there is something about that girl which is special. I don’t know what it is – not yet but I would love to find out. I want to get to know her. I really do. And I don’t even think that she knows anything about the band - anything about the ‘singer of One DirectionNiall Horan’. I always wanted a girl who likes me because of me, not because of my job and my money. And it seems like she does like me. Maybe we…?
Stop, Niall! Stop thinking about her that way. You don’t even know if she likes you either. Before you dream about a relationship with her, you really need to get to know her!!
“That’s also one of my hobbies. Just hanging out with friends. Watching a movie, talking about some bullshit or cooking which I love!” she adds. That’s kind of strange. We like exactly the same things. I smile at her. “Oh me either. But I even prefer eating.” I tell her. “Some people say that I’m the person who eats the most.” For example our fans. I’m known as the member who only thinks of eating. But I don’t want to tell her about the band. Not yet. I want to get to know her. The elevator stops and we leave it. What shall I show her? There is nothing interesting about this building. There are some offices and studios. Maybe we could go out and drink a coffee together. But what if there are paparazzi who are just looking for me? What would I tell her? No, I can’t go out with her. “I and Daniel, Mr George’s son, have played here since we were just little kids. Mr George is my dad’s best friend. So what would you like to see? I have to admit that actually it isn’t interesting.” “Well, can you show me the studios? I would love to see them. I’ve never seen any of them but as I want to become an actress it would be quite helpful, wouldn’t it?” she laughs again. How I love her doing this! “Of course! Let’s go there. But I have to warn you. They’re really small because this building isn’t actually for filming movies it’s just a boring agency. But if there are people who have to be casted they use them. I guess that you’ll be really disappointed.” “We’ll see. But I don’t think so.”
…
LAURA’s POV
The studios were really amazing though they were pretty small. There were just three rooms. One was a kitchen, another a shop and the third one was empty. We had so much fun by acting different situations in the different rooms. First we imagined that we were an old married couple in the kitchen and that the husband had cheated on his wife and then they – well we – were fighting and screaming at each other. It was so extremely funny that in the end we couldn’t stop laughing. In the shop we imagined being shop assistant and customer. The customer who was played by me was an old lady who had hundreds of wishes. The end was the same like it was the first time: we had to laugh for at least ten minutes. As we arrived in the third room we were still laughing so we didn’t act another scene. I had so much fun.
Now we are sitting in one of the offices. He’s been telling me everything about his family. He was born in Ireland and had lived there for sixteen years, in a little village called Mullingar. His brother and father still live there. His brother is married and has got a son whose name is Theo and who is about one year old. Niall thinks that he’s the cutest kid in the world. I also told him nearly everything about my family. My sister is fifteen years old and my brother is twenty-two. He has asked so many questions about my family that I don’t even have a chance to answer them:
“So you still live at home?” We’re sitting at a round table. He’s looking at me with his blue ocean eyes. I don’t know why but every time he looks at me that way I can’t remember what I planned to say. I can’t even remember what I thought the second before. There are always just these eyes… “Ah, yes I do, unfortunately. You know three women in a little flat can sometimes be quite exhausting. He has to laugh. “Have you ever thought of moving out? In your own apartment or in a flat share?” Have I? Well, sometimes… but could I even live without my mother? Although we fight a lot, I think it would be really difficult. But on the other side it would be much more comfortable. I would never have to tell her where I was or why I come home that late. “Actually I did. But I never had enough money. Maybe if I get the job, I will…”
Damn, I interrupt myself. The job! How many time has passed since we saw Mr George the last time. One hour? Two? Or even three? It seems like he’s reading my thoughts. He grabs the phone and tells me that he’ll call the secretary. I can’t even remember her name. What happened with me in those few hours? He’s speaking with her for some seconds, nods and ends the call. Did Mr George look for me? Is he angry? Do I still have a chance to show him my talent?
