James had gone out for the day with his brothers and had just gotten home. He had gotten in a pretty nasty fight with Mora before leaving and he wanted to apologize to her. He opened the door and walked in.
"Mora, can we talk?" He called out.
Silence.
James sighed assuming she must still be angry.
"Mora I just want to apologize" he called out. Again he was met with silence. He took his jacket off and walked up to the room him and Mora shared. When he walked in he saw a letter on the table and his heart stopped. He ran over to the table to see that the letter had his name written on it.
He could feel his eyes start to water as he slowly opened the letter. He shakily took the papers out with the familiar writing. Mora's writing.
James swallowed hard and began to read it.
Dear James,
I love you, but our fights are too much for me. I know you don't mean to hurt me but you do. You hurt me a lot and can't keep lying to myself and pretending like I want to keep living, like this is what I want. It's not. When we started dating I was going through a really hard time and you helped me through it, now you're my problem. I really can't keep doing this James. I'm sorry but I'm ending it all. Please don't try to stop me, I've made up my mind. I will forever love you James. Even though you've hurt me I still love you so much. Please live a happy full life without me.
Love, Mora
James's hands started to shake violently as he read the letter. It had it be a joke. This wasn't happening. Not to her. It had to be anyone but his Mora. He ran out to his car and started it speeding away to where he knew she would be. The bridge. It's where they had first met.
He drove 150 km in a 60 zone as he remembered the first time they had met. Mora was trying to jump off the bridge.
James was driving home from a night at the club and took a wrong turn and had to go over a bridge to get home. He angrily cursed at his stupidity. He speed up over the bridge as he saw someone standing there trying to get over the edge. James screeched to a stop, shocked at what he was seeing. He got out and looked to the person standing there. It was a young woman who looked to him looking like deer in headlights. She stayed frozen in place tears running down her face.
James's eyes widened as he put his hands up. "I'm not going to hurt you" he said slowly walking over. The woman tensed and tried to move away from him over the ledge.
"Whoa. I just want to talk" he said pausing for a response. The woman slowly nodded.
"I-I'm not coming off the ledge though" she said as James nodded his head.
"Can I come over to you?" he asked. She bit her lip before slowly nodding her head.
"F-fine. But don't try anything" she said, as James nodded his head slowly walking over.
"My name is James. What's your name?"
"M-Mora" the women said watching James closely.
"That's a pretty name. It suits you" he said. Mora didn't respond. "Can you tell me why you're here?" He asked
"Does it make a difference?" Mora snapped.
"No, I just thought if you were going to die that I could at least make your last few moments some what enjoyable." he said as Mora looked down.
"J-just..." she sighed "fine." She said slowly looking to James. Mora was a beautiful women with a tear-stained face that broke James's face.
He slowly got close enough to put his hand out for her. He didn't though waiting to hear her out first.
"...It's my family," She said quietly "I broke up with my boyfriend 6 months ago and he got mad and posted naked pictures of me. They saw it as well as my college. My college kicked me out and my parents started to get mad at me for everything I did." she said as tears filled her eyes. "My father even hit me today" she said moving her head to show James a bruise on her cheek. James frowned
"What's his name?" He asked. Mora gave a confused look.
"Why?"
"Because I need to know who to beat up" James said. At the sound of those words Mora's eyes watered. She looked away starting to cry. James slowly put his hand out.
"Take my hand Mora" He said. She looked over at him and slowly took it. Mora had a soft grip but James's grip was tight as he lifted her up over the ledge. Mora broke down sobbing. James rubbed her back.
"Shh, it's ok. You're safe now." he said holding onto her tightly. "You can stay with me and my brothers ok?" he said as Mora nodded her head.
James blinked away tears as he sped up even more. He arrived at the front of the bridge and saw Mora walking on the bridge. Mora turned around and sprinted away from the car. James slammed on the breaks and got out chasing after her.
"MORA! DON'T DO THIS!" he called out to her. Mora just kept running tears running down her face. She ran to a ledge and tried to climb over it, but James caught up to her and grabbed her arm.
"Mora please don't do this!" James cried tears forming in his eyes. "I love you and I'm sorry about our fight! I wish you didn't feel like you need to take your life away from me but don't think I'm going to stand around and watch you slip through my fingers! I've lost too many people to let that happen!" He cried. Mora stared at him tears on her face.
"James I-" she said but James cut her off.
"No you listen! You are not leaving me until you're old, and wrinkly and you've lived a nice long life with me you understand me?!" he cried tears running down his face.
Mora stared at him shocked. She took a breath before she wiped away his tears and hugged him.
"I understand you. I-I'm sorry" she said. James hugged her tightly.
"No I'm sorry for making you feel like this." He said. Mora just shook her head.
"No, this was my fault."
"No it was mine!" James cried as Mora laughed. James's cheeks went red as her looked away. Mora kissed his cheek with a smile.
"I love you James" She said.
"I love you too"
"Hey James?"
"Yah Mora?"
"I'm ready to go home."
