Marinette's world had just exploded. Words echoed in her head like sirens blaring down the street in a storm. A storm that brought tears cascading down her face in a waterfall. Try as she might Marinette couldn't hold back her tears. She had known she would get rejected. She knew it, but hearing if from him made it real. Hearing it crushed the little amount of hope she had. 

" Marinette I should tell you." Marinette looked from the floor she hadn't even realized she was looking at to look up at the blond in front of her. His head was low and his face was crimson.

" I do like you, but I-I," Adrien stuttered and her head started spinning. What was happening

" I would be betraying someone I already gave my heart too," Adrien finished his face was red, but serious. Marinette forced herself to smile back at him. He shouldn't have to worry about her. She knew this after all.

" It's okay Adrien. I understand. I'll be fine," Marinette managed to say. With every word she felt a piece of her heart shredding. Adrien's smile wavered as his tears started to fall. 

" Thank you Marinette," His words still brang joy to her heart, no matter how much they hurt. She nodded and left the classroom and out into the front steps of the school. She could see Alya and Nino talking in front. They turned upon seeing her and smiled. Alya's smile wavered once she realised that Marinette had been in tears. Let's just say that Marinette was in Alya's arms in two seconds and Marinette looked at Nino. Nino gave a look of what seemed to be understanding as she assumed he saw Adrien walking out of the school behind her. Alya's grip tightened if possible and held her protectively. 

" Marinette what's wrong? Who did this to you? Where are they?" Alya asked in bursts and her eyes flicked with seething anger. Marinette did her best to give her friend a smile. 

" It's ok Alya, i'm fine," Marinette replied and Nino walked away toward what she again assumed was Adrien. 

" Are you sure?" Marinette gave Alya the biggest lie she felt she had ever told in her life. 

" Yes." Alya gave her a wary look of uncertainty before nodding and walking her home. After Alya had taken Marinette home she flopped onto her bed in a huff. A sigh had escaped her lips as she did so.

" Are you okay Marinette?" Marinette looked up to see her kwami with a worried expression. 

" I don't know Tikki," Marinette replied and it was muffled by her pillow as she hit her head back onto her bed. Marinette could only think and in her room full of pictures of him it didn't help. Ever image of his face reminded her that he rejected her. She stood in a leap and in a fit of tears she ripped all of her pictures of Adrien off her wall in minutes. As she ripped picture be picture another group tears would fall, threatening to overtake her till she fell on the ground in waterfalls of sobs. Tikki could only stare in worry and horror as her holder did so. Realizing a dangerous possibility Tikki flew quickly to her holder's side. 

" Marinette, maybe you should get some air?" Tikki suggest praying that it would help her feel better. Marinette nodded and replied by whispering her transformation. Feeling the wrap of her suit did her little as she stood. With a heavy sigh she climbed out onto her balcony and flew off into the city. Tikki was right about air. Feeling the wind passing her as she swung across the city felt nice and brought her a weird sense relief. After spending hours being out it was finally dark and the moon started to rise. She swung to the top of the Eiffel tower and stood overlooking the city.
